Hi All,
I just got a 94 SVX LSI, Green + Tan, 53000K
which I hear was a Repo, sure hope it werent anyone we know, fate worse than....? Beautiful car in immaculate condition, I am real impressed. Primarily got it for my wife though, cant wait to run it against my other car (92 legacy-Turbo 5spd), I know the Legacy FEELS faster but its hard to tell....but of course it would kill me on any track with corners!

Also it came with 4 new bridgestone Potenza RE910's --- I know there are better, but since they are absolutely new, are they descent?

Congrats on the SVX. My mom has a 92 Legacy Turbo auto and from driving both that and my 95 SVX I'd guess is that the Legacy is faster off the line but for pure driving acceleration it just doesn't compare. You gotta keep that turbo working hard. As for the 910's their not horrible. A few steps below original but as long as she's not planning on doing any high speed cornering she'll be fine with those for now. For your next tires wait and see how Never2phat's new Yokos work out for him. Everthing I've heard about them is their the bomb. We'll see if they respond to the beauty of all wheel drive as nicely.

Wow - small world. I have a 91 Turbo Legacy running 13 pounds of boost and a 92 SVX. For off the line, feel it in the seat of your pants, the turbo is quicker off the line. As pointed out, however you can feel/hear the turbo working. The SVX is a completely different experience and loves to drive all day at high speed. It's great having both - I can pick the car that fits the way I want to drive that day.

13 Pounds of boost huh, what the hell did you do to it to get that and keep it a daily driver? I totally agree that driving the two is a completely different experience and requires a total different driving style but to me there is nothing quite as sweet as the sound of an SVX's exaust at 5500 RPMs. No Legacy will ever be able to touch that!!!

Well we took em out together and sure enough the Turbo got the best of it through 2nd gear, but then comes an ominous roar and away she goes! ( that would be my wife in the SVX!). I would love to see what the SVX could do with better gearing than 3.45.

Yeah, I've got to admit, I'm enjoying my Legacy 2.5GT quite a bit. Obviously it's not turbo, but it is a 5 spd and it's a blast. Around town it's plenty nimble and quick enough to get out of the way, although I do plan on getting more hp out of it with NA mods. There's plenty of current (Subaru) support and lot's of aftermarket options, compared to the SVX. The only time I really miss the SVX is when I need the highway power. Rolling along at 65 mph, and mashing the throttle in the SVX is a very rewarding and immediate experience. It's quite un-inspiring in the Legacy, even with a downshift.

Oh well, like you guys have said. Two different kinds of fun. And I can't afford both!

Here's how we rasied the boost on my Turbo to 13 lbs. First I bought a boost gauge, and air-fuel gauge so I could monitor the affects of any changes before they did any damage. Changing the boost consisted of drilling a hole and changing the spring (tension) of the wastegate to change the amount of boost. By trying differnet springs we arrived at a comfortable 13 lbs of boost. The ECU is apparently designed with parameters that allow some leeway over the stock 8lbs of boost. I thought we might have to add a fuel pressure management unit but the stock ECU enriches the fuel mix so its not a problem. Next project is a T3 turbo on the SVX.

Back to the original subject (gee, you guys sure get off on tangents from the original post http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif) I love my RE910s. Can't compare them with anything else, though. Mine came on my car and were brand new when I got it. They're quiet, great in rain, can't say much about the snow because someone who will remain nameless (his initials are richeich93) did not send me the 6+inches they promised. They're smooth riding and have served me very well. I'd buy them again. Meanwhile, we can both share in the shame of benefitting from someone else's misery -- mine was also a repo.
