what a great weekend; sunny and hot. got to see them swap a tranny in pat's subie car in 15mins:eek: so if anyone trys to charge you 6 hours to do your clutch........
I think only 13 out of the 38 cars finish

too bad 3 out of the 4 cars in our service DNF. chad went down a 50 foot cliff, but was able to drive it back after they towed it out. I believe it on sundays' province newspaper

our mini had axle problems

a wrx lost all the gears except 2nd

we pretty much stood around most of the day......oh yeah, tora is as annoying in person as he is on this board:lol: :p  :p

btw, anyone have pics yet?

I would have taken pics, but the battery in my camera sucks so much that it died between me unplugging it from the charger in my hotel room and when I tried to take a pic of the starting of the very first stage of the day

Here's a taster...

http://members.shaw.ca/PeterParsonage/pfr1.jpg

This is one of a series of really great action shots that Keith Morison took of my car (http://www.morisoncom.com).

Apparently, there's going to be a posting of the one(s) the sweep truck crew took of my car before it was extracted from the ditch.

I wish I had in car video of the stages. We passed a lot of cars hanging off the road. The Princeton Cuttoff stage claimed 3 cars on the first pass. Not a place to be brave.

my blurb:
I was fortunate enough to be able to join Total Motors and their four cars as a pitt crew member. Unfortunately three of our four cars were out of the race after the first few stages. We were right beside Subaru Canada's service area and got to watch them work. Very impressive. Especially there trannt swap which was completed in under 10 minutes. The weather was terrific and asides from a lot of cars getting damage the event was amazing. I have to give HUGE props to Ken and all the organizers, volunteers, drivers and spectators for putting on a terrific race. I was amazed at the amount of work that goes into this one day race. I don't know how Ken did it, but very impressive. I can't wait until I can get a Rally car myself and start competing in performance rallys.

It was a long day of dnf's.:( For the people who did finish congratulations. It was fun working in the pits for "total", just wish there was more work, and more time to spectate, ie. left my truck at the hotel:rolleyes:. The Country is spectacular, and many drivers and navigators agree that "those have been some of the best roads in Canada to race", and that they can't wait until next year. The Subaru Canada pit team had the best set up, and also the biggest budget. :D. I have some pics but only of the service area, and of the 15 minute tranny swap for pats car. Sadly pats motor caught fire and dnf, i heard it stemmed from the turbo.
But the real mvp of the whole event was "Keno". It was a lot of work organizing everything, and everyone and he pulled 99.9% of it off.
If anyone has a chance to volunteer next year, or events, i recommend it, i had alot of fun. Oh and next year there will be a lot more local ladies participating in promoting the event  :D

This was best event I've volunteered at. I got to run through several stages with the route book while setting up road closures. I also got to work control zones, talk about eating dust!

I was at the finish control (SS5 finish) where Pat's car packed it in. He stopped at the control, got his time and as he started to pull away, I saw a plume of smoke come out of the hood scoop. He rolled down the road a bit, leaving a trail of liquid (it turned out to be oil). I looked away for a bit because another car was coming in and when I turned backed he had the fire extinguisher in his hand and the hood was up.

I second madmanslegacy's recommendation to volunteer if you can, it is a ton of fun! There never seem to be enough workers available for these events.

I had an awesome time at this event volunteering as well...

Got to do a lot more than last year at Mountain Trials where I was only road closures...

We were slated to start 2 stages and finish 2 stages... but after some unfortunate circumstances, we ended up starting 2 stages and finishing 1 stage and spectating one great acute right turn..

so we spectated on SS2 at this nasty turn and watched as car #1 (pat richard) nearly tried to blow right through the yellow tape as he was not set up for the turn... after some quick turns he was on his way... we watched a few other cars try to do the same, and a couple take really nice lines around the corners...

next was SS6 for the start... had to shake off the rust for doing car starts pretty quick as competitors lined up while we waited for the course to go hot.. (car on course and cattle wandering around about 9kms in) it was great to shoot the s**t with the drivers and co-drivers... Tom McGeer was yelling something at me and it took a couple of tries for me to realize he was saying that "Pat's car caught on fire... that's why he's not here!!!" I had visions of a flaming roll cage on the side of the road...

then we did the flying finish for SS13 where I saw one red wrx with pretty flashing lights that caught my eye as it looked like he was trying to take-off coming down the final few hundred meters of the course at incredible speed... I think only McGeer, Erickson and Janusz took that flying finish faster...

we finished with starting SS16 which was pretty uneventful except for it getting very cold on that mountain....

all in all it was a great event... i slept very easily each night as they were very long days...

can't wait for the next big event!

I hope some of the people sitting on the fence about coming out to a rally can grasp how cool it is to be involved in a great event like this. All the rally competitors know how hard you work and without volunteers like you they could not go do what they like to do.

Check out the action shots from Warwick. The smile on Tom McGeer's face shows how much he likes the roads.

Morgan Segal has a couple of shots of Chad's car rather a long way down the hill.
