   is right...GORGEOUS !

I know its CF but is it lighter than the stocker, since the stocker is VERY light... And is it a cheaper CF were you can see threw it ?
And what about water...? I have a FMIC so this would be great....but what about when its pouring, are there special draining shields you can attach ?

will the hood fit over a WRX with greddy FMIC piping? I know the aqua vent on a stock hood hits the piping.

EDIT: is that center vent removeable? if so will it fit OEM scoop?

thanks

This is nice! I have the same Q's as Jejunum-GB would be good too! Also, will it fit with the APS FMIC piping? Is this full CF or fiberglass skeleton w/CF overlay?

Thanks,

there goes Dave and his controversial questions... :D

Look at this pics guys:

http://www.seibon.com/Products/CFHood/CFHoodPictures/CFHoodPic_CW/WRX-2002-CW-2.jpg

See how the passenger side has a some sort of cut to it?

And this pic:

http://www.seibon.com/Products/CFHood/CFHoodPictures/CFHoodPic_CW/WRX-2002-CW-8.jpg

See how it shows the cuts to the same side? Looks like it was molded from another WRX with some sort of FMIC already installed - hopefully it's the GREDDY one.

STR8OUT

Well....I just ordered one. I called and talked with Shawn about the reverse scoop and he said that it does not dip down any lower than a stock WRX hood. The reverse thing doesnt effect clearance underneath it is what he told me.

I think he said yesterday he had 15 and I just ordered number 12. So that would make 3 left in stock and he doesnt get more until a month to a month and a half.

This is what Shawn told me. I just dont like waiting around for answers so I called him:p :D

Cant wait to post pics

the hood is awesome!

the scoop on that hood is more or less an aqua-style scoop...no? i don't see any reason why a regular hoodscoop wouldn't fit

well, if it is a reflection, then you'll need to cut the about a 1" cut for it to clear the greddy fmic - that's what Leonardo had to do with his Aqua - and sooner or later, he' gonna post that pic he promised! :D

There is no cuts in it but if you look closely, the reverse scoop does not dip down into the engine bay. Shawn confirmed this for me because I explained to him about how the Auqa scoop hit the FMIC pipes but he says that this hood is designed so that it has the same specs as the stock WRX hood underneath. It should fit. If not then I will post about it to let everyone know.

ps. Why do you care G-force?? You have the Kaminari hood and it looks awesome;) , I may end up doing what you did and have this hood painted blue to match. I will have to see if I like the CF look on my car.

Neil, I will post pics ASAP. The hood is shipping to me today so I will probably have it later this week or early next. Almost all 15 of these hoods are sold in just a couple days so Im sure pics will be poping up everywhere.

UPDATE: The hood is being delivered tomorrow so I should have it installed by tomorrow and hopefully I can snap some pics

will this hood clear the aps d/r500 FMIC intercooler piping, also which hood is possibly more effective as far as venting, the kaimanari hood or this new design.. peace

DannyGT
06-11-2003, 05:48 PM
Im like 99% positive this will do a better job...I bought the CF kaminari thinking it would be a world of difference, and to tell u the truth, I think its worse...I love the look...BUT -- I used to be able to go for a 10 min drive, drive hard, came into my garage, turn off the car and open the hood to find the piping for my greddy fmic still cool from the air hitting it underneath the scoop....now they are much warmer then before...
ALSO, the hood felt almost HEAVIER than the stock one...has any 1 actually compared the two ? I know stock was super lightweight, but I figured it was equal or a bit lighter....doesnt feel that way at all...
With this hood, it help vent the heat that the piping near the turbo and throttle body. and im sure when not raining, and the side vents are open, that those will let out ALOT of heat....

gqzboy
06-11-2003, 05:51 PM
do u know if these new hood are lighter than stock?

Jejunum
06-12-2003, 01:50 AM
guess afs abandonned his own thread :( i had some questions earlier if u do get back?

also is rain a big deal? i hear conflited things-if its rains whats at risk?

G-force
06-12-2003, 02:59 AM
if it rains, and you'll almost guranteed to have an open element air intake system with your fmic, that water will seep into the filter that's directly underneath the passenger vent. heck, it doesn't even have to rain..just wash your car and pray that you'd remember to block off that vent.

why do I care? my hood is up for a possible sale. looking at my options and giving David a hard time.

Im almost positive both the Kaminari and this hood are heavier than stock. Shawn told me this one weighs 18lbs (stock is 15). In all honesty 3lbs is a joke, especially since this hood looks sooooo good!

I just got the hood delivered to my office just now. It looks amazing in person! It is SOOOO light. I cant imagine it being heavier than the stock hood. I can probably weigh it for you guys if you want me to.

This thing really is a work of art. The mesh on it isnt really mesh at all, its diamond stamped sheet metal and is really strong. I will be installing it tonight or tomorrow.

I dont think it will hit the FMIC pipes because the inverted scoop really doesnt come down into the engine bay. I will confirm for everyone when it gets installed.

The cover things that go under the side vents look like they seal very well (the hood comes with them installed). Water definetely wont be able to pour through those vent with the shields installed.

-Brian

ps. It came with a free hood pin set. I dont know if I want to install the hood pins cause it might look to ricey:p

STR8OUT will be test fitting the hood on his WRX for us. He has the Greddy intercooler. We will post pictures as early as possible.

We also can make this hood in fiberglass. The price should be around $450.

There are covers for the vents. Water should not be a big problem.

This may be a dumb question, but are there any advantages to it being made out of CF(rigidity) other than style? The reason I ask is whether I get in CF ir FG I plan on painting it. Two thumbs up to AFS because this is just the hood I was planning on piecing together out of a Cusco hood and an Aqua or Quantum Racing hood vent. This is MUCH more economical!:)

I know that you can't make a product that satisfies everyone's needs/wants, but if this hood won't accept an STi scoop and enlarged splitter, I will be browsing elsewhere. Who's to say that an upgrading TMIC won't fit, too?

I am 99% sure that the real Cusco one will accept all of the above.

Its almost a replica...Except its the REAL deal...CF used here is very good, and instead of using that squarish hood scoop that the cwest one has they made it sorta there own hood by combining the aqua reverse hood...for FMIC user's you cant beat this...
Its so cheap to you because the other hood is a big ripp off.

If the scoop isnt removeable just get a Cusco hood...but it costs more..but its made out of FPR (very durable)...but if you have a FMIC this would be a better hood...definately...I think if the hood scoop isnt removeable then it would be designed for a FMIC car.
