Does anyone know what cars came with the metal fuel door? I was pretty sure they were JDM only, but I don't remember whether it was all models or a specific one.

I ran into a guy who imports JDM parts, so I was hoping he could help me out with a fuel door. :)

Check here (http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/modifications/exterior/gas/gas.html). Brian did a writeup on the modification already. Part numbers are included.

Awesome. I kept trying to do a search for flat fuel door and ending up with the wrong posts.

Thanks!

Brian's site rocks. :D

The flat fuel doors were on US cars, they were just eliminated after the MY1999 cars, I think it was. Pretty sure it was that year, because the '99s still had fold-down rear seats and trunk lights, as well. A few things like that were knocked off for what I think was '00 to save cost, I assume.

(Or maybe the '98s had all that and the '99+s didn't, I forget.)

Man, that still blows my mind. The trunk light kit retails for $34 and wouldn't take an assembly line worker more than 2m to install.

Though, I suppose they could justify that if eliminating the part eliminated the position.

No, 99's definitely did not have a trunk light or a flat fuel door (either that or they forgot about mine!)
I wish they did b/c then I wouldn't have to do it myself!

No trunklight, no locking fuel door on any RS :). If you want to find a flat fuel door stateside, look for '93 to '95 L's in junkards. Some had flat locking fuel doors (they will be plastic however). My flat door (metal) came from the UK.
