SVX ABS Braking System, Self Diagnosis:

Conduct self-diagnosis after driving the vehicle at speeds greater than 30 km/h (19 MPH) for at
least one minute. The vehicle must be stopped with the engine operating. When a problem is
detected by self-diagnosis, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on. Approximately 5-
12 seconds after the warning light has come on, the problem detected by the ABS control unit
(located under the right front seat –– under a flap of carpet next to the seat rail) is displayed by a trouble code in terms of ""the number of LED''s blinks."" A) Both the warning light and the LED remain activated unless the ignition key is turned OFF. With the ignition key turned OFF, the contents of the problem stored in the memory are reset. B) Only one trouble code is displayed at a time. When a multiple of problems occur, only the first problem detected is displayed. C) If the
LED does not activate (though the warning light is ON), the power supply may be inoperative.

TROUBLE CODES:

If the LED is off, this would indicate an improper power line voltage or faulty harness. 1,2,3 or 4 blinks indicate a broken or shorted solenoid valve circuit(s) in the hydraulic unit. 1 blink indicates the left front wheel control, 2 blinks indicates right front wheel control. 3 blinks, the right rear wheel control and 4 blinks, the left rear wheel control. 5,6,7 or 8 blinks indicate a faulty wheel ABS sensor. 5 is LF wheel speed sensor, 6 is RF wheel speed sensor, 7 is RR wheel speed sensor, 8 is LR wheel speed sensor. Nine blinks would indicate a faulty motor and/or motor relay or broken or shorted harness circuit. Ten blinks may indicate: a faulty valve relay or broken or
shorted harness circuit; a faulty valve relay or broken or shorted harness, or interrupted ABS
(causing brakes to function as a conventional brake system), or; an unidentified fault that is not equivalent to trouble codes 1-16. Sixteen blinks may indicate: A faulty ABS control unit or
broken or shorted harness circuit, or; a faulty ABS control unit or broken or shorted harness, or
malfunctioning system or line unidentified by vehicle ABS sensor.

Thanks for posting the ABS self diagnosis procedure. It will hopefully help out someone that experiences an ABS problem and wants to find out what the ABS computer found a fault in.

It's funny when I tried searching for ABS, this thread didn't come up. Maybe if we mention ABS a few more times it'll show up? I hope so because this is important for those wanting information on the ABS diagnosis procedure.

Well thanks again for posting it, hopefully we can fix this oversight!

Hey Eric, that's weird. His post does mention ABS. Down towards the bottom. It could be that with the recent change in servers, and other things, that some of the search functions got messed up. I remember somebody in the Legacy Forum mentioning having trouble finding something using a search that they knew was there.

Rich, I suppose it searches the "title" and not the text. When I first posted this, I figured I'd use the more general "Brake" in the title for easier access. It was an apparent "blunder." Just my "warped" way of thinking, I guess. If I were to want to find out something about my ABS, I, personally would've done a search on "Brakes." Nonetheless, I don't think I can edit the title, even as author.

You can choose to search just the title, or entire messages. I did an ABS search for entire messages yesterday, and it showed 0. I just doublechecked it and tried again, and it showed something like 6. I guess it was having a bad day yesterday?
