A.R.E.'s press release (http://www.4are.com/cgi-bin/_b/news/1/pressrelease.cgi)
No mention of price, and I still haven't decided if I like the idea of buying a vehicle with an open bed then covering the bed. I used to have a BRAT and generally left the cap off in the summer for carrying bikes but put it on for winter ski trips.
I sent ARE a message asking for the MSRP. I'll post it here.
jeffm 06-18-2003, 02:43 PM ....buying a vehicle with an open bed then covering the bed Right; And it does look pretty tight and all but you're loosing the whole goofball Baja experience! It looks more like a confused Legacy wagon. And it surely interferes with viewing out of the ride, which is already slightly odd (that I notice anyway)
But still, it'd be fun to see. Are Brat seats an option for it? heh
spacemonkey 06-18-2003, 03:12 PM hmm I really can't decide if i like it or not. I was considering the snug top for after we moved to ny (don't want to shovel snow out of the bed...) but I'd be really interested in the msrp.
good lookout!
you get two monkeys:disco: :disco:

BajaNut 07-02-2003, 03:10 PM Hey everyone, ARE has added the baja to its normal product lineup on the website, sadly no MSRP yet. but take a looksee: http://www.4are.com/product/baja/
RacingBlue 07-26-2003, 11:14 AM Price through an ARE camper shell dealer is about $1,300 with about a two week delivery on the west coast. That was the quote. Pull up the website, enter your ZIP and you will have a display of your local outlets. Let your fingers do the walking.
wandaful 09-23-2005, 06:33 PM Thank you, thank you. Anyone have one of these yet? If so, what do you think?
dhstein313 09-24-2005, 03:50 AM This is NOT a new product but has been out for a while......my father works for ARE but I refuse to buy cap -ruins the unique look of the baja ..... price is about $1300- good people ----- my father is retiring after 20 years next June........ he claims that they have NOT made very many in their production plant in OHIO and could get my harldy a discount I much prefer the snugtop lid.

mjalex007 09-24-2005, 11:15 AM It looks like something a serial killer would want for his Baja.
wandaful 09-24-2005, 02:08 PM Well, I'm not a serial killer, but I do agree that it ruins the unique look of the baja, which is the main reason I bought it. However, I also need a way to protect my mobility scooter from the elements and I see no other way. Just a tonneau cover would work if I could find the right one.
10.5sec1992AWDtalon 09-24-2005, 06:47 PM totally ruins the look...fugly as hell.
wandaful 09-24-2005, 06:53 PM Ok, you all convinced me. I just ordered the factory cover.

wandaful 09-26-2005, 09:22 PM didnt your 05 turbo come with a cover, mine did, dealer said it was standerd for 05 turbos????
Shoot.....maybe I should complain to my dealer. No, mine didn't come with one, but I did buy it off the lot, not order it, though it was brand new.
dhstein313 09-26-2005, 09:43 PM The lid only comes if you buy turbo and the leather package if I remember correctly
SB
wandaful 09-26-2005, 10:27 PM That explains it.....I didn't get the leather package. You must be right.
Basub 09-28-2005, 12:54 AM ya thats why I got it, cause of the leather package
arebekah 01-21-2008, 07:18 PM I'm looking for an ARE cap for my Atlantic Pearl Blue 06 Baja. I don't want to pay for a brand new one though. If anyone has one for sale, I'm interested.
weekss 01-27-2008, 04:59 PM I have one but it is in St. Louis. Looks like I'll be selling my atlantic blue baja turbo auto '06 w/20k miles on it but if someone wants the A.R.E. cap separately, I'm open. Steve
bajozzy 01-27-2008, 06:16 PM Im rockin one, The way I look at it the Baja is supposed to be a versatile transport unit. The shell makes it even more versatile. Now I can hold 4 ten inch base tubes in trhe back and with the pass through behind the back seat it makes the camper shell that much more of a bonus. I didnt think people actually bought the Baja for its "looks" anyway.

If you're gonna' replace the snuglid with the A.R.E., you might as well get rid of the Baja and just get an Outback....the cap complete changes the "unique" lines of the Baja.
corgimas 02-02-2008, 12:34 AM Hey steven
you wanna dump that snuglid?
in RI...looking for a cover.......

Thx for the tip but i went with http://www.mini-box.com/site/index.html
their power supply is amazingly smaller, the M3. It just eliminates soo many wires in the case. They also had some of the best prices i could find on the mini-itx boards
The Distance 02-27-2008, 12:04 AM weekss,
Why are you wanting to sell so soon after getting the camper top?
