View Full Version : WRX STi 2001 Pics (Updated)
legacyb4 04-24-2001, 07:16 PM Got another chance last to run up some miles on the new WRX STi... performance was breathtaking, to say the least and handling on the car was superb! We ran back to back with a friend's B4 and my brother's NSX around the Tokyo highway circuit; one word he had about the WRX was "wow, that was fast!"...
Posted some new pics at:

Cheers.
bobski 04-24-2001, 10:44 PM Ummm...at least we get same pedals on our WRX.
Akirasoft 04-24-2001, 11:42 PM You know what I was thinking. What the hell do you do with cars like that in Japan, its a friggen island. They need to bring them here, so we can really drive them. so much for the pesky SPEED LIMITS. You know what, I want an infinite supply of money. Exactly enough money for whatever I want at any given time, that way I can get an STi, an EVO, Skyline GTR, maybe a Silvia just for ****s and giggles, I HATE JAPAN!!
Ok I'm done ranting http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif
Dre2932 04-25-2001, 12:00 AM Still don't like the round head lights!
mastervic27 04-25-2001, 01:02 AM Where is the boost gauge? Is that an option?
Clement 04-25-2001, 03:50 AM It it's only available here in North America.... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif
What's the NSX doing in front of the STi in one of the pics? Don't tell me that's your car http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
galevelasco 04-25-2001, 04:04 AM Man what the freak? Why do they keep this from us all the time?
::twitches uncontrollably:: auggguguuguggg ::sounds like homer::
legacyb4 04-25-2001, 05:18 AM Guys guys guys,
Glad to see you enjoy the pics! Interesting thing about the STi was that it has a built-in shift alert lamp which lights up the whole tachometer... Apparently, it can be set in 100 rpm increments and when you hit the point you set, the tach glows a cherry red and beeps; pretty nifty, I thought.
The yellow NSX is my brother's and is truely an awesome machine to drive. Note though, that after driving the STi up where the turbo is happy, his first comment was 'wow, that was fast...'.
You can check out pics if you are interested at:

I thought it was pretty cool catching the reflection of his brakelights in the headlights of the STi (look carefully at the 7th picture on the page).
Cheers.
tonytiger 04-25-2001, 05:27 AM The Sti really does have 4 cams! I've thought it was just a story of the quad cam. I think that DOHC indicates to two cams, but I'm not sure. Awesome car, I'm jealous http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif The video clip was nice, I will loop it and listen to it when I go to sleep http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
tonytiger 04-25-2001, 05:33 AM Six speed transmission is sooo sweet.
TimStevens 04-25-2001, 06:14 AM Drool...
Hey, that isn't the same STi exhaust we can get over here, is it? I don't think ours has the same angle to it as the one in these pictures...
Gorgeous car, my friend.

legacyb4 04-25-2001, 08:52 AM The Legacy pix are a combination of scanned film pictures and digital pictures taken with an older Sony digicam and a newer Nikon Coolpix 880.
The STi pix are taken all with the 880 and I must say I was quite pleased with the results.
Cheers.
Philip 04-25-2001, 09:26 PM If I understand correctly this is your car? If so, are you willing to check to see if the silencer is installed? And if you could take a few more pics for me..... rear seat (to determine if I want to try to order the front and rear http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif), and the switch locations and sprayer locations for the intercooler sprayers?
Also I only noticed one cable to the TB, so I am guessing it comes standard with no cruise control?
Thanks,
Philip
goten 04-25-2001, 09:48 PM why would u guys wanna drive a WRX in japan when there is EVO7??
Buck-O 04-25-2001, 09:50 PM No cruise control?!
Its got 280ps, 4wd, close ratio 6 speed, STi tuned suspension, and you give a FLYING RATS ASS ABOUT CRUISE CONTROL?! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/mad.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Dude, i would NEVER use cruise control on a car like that. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif I wouldent ahve the time to. hehehe
Mikey B 04-25-2001, 10:01 PM Awesome cars, thanks for posting the B4 pics..

Marc Sawaya 04-25-2001, 10:02 PM Your pictures are absolutely amazing, you should do those professionally, like for brochures or magazines. All the cars (STi, Legacy, NSX) look great, you're very lucky to live in a country where they're available, and to be able to afford them! It would be interesting to hear stories about life as a car enthusiast in Japan. Have you ever been to the States?
Marc
Mizen 04-25-2001, 10:05 PM Nice car... Nice pics!
Someone is having fun http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
ashtaron14 04-25-2001, 10:23 PM Ok, do you have more of those pics of the 5 cars (NSX, Skyline, WRX, etc) following each other? That's just very awesome pics.
ChimChim 04-25-2001, 10:31 PM Dearest legacyb4,
You gotta hook me up with rides when I'm in Japan this summer!!!
Sincerely, your bestest bestest pal in the whole wide world,
-ChimChim http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
P.S. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

WarAngel 04-25-2001, 10:34 PM B4,
Did you get the optional navigation system that motors out of the center of the dash in front of the clock? If not it's still a nice car. I'll get one too when they come to us yanks.
Mal
legacyb4 04-25-2001, 11:01 PM Whoah, this thread is getting a lot of mileage!
Let's see..
1)I drive the B4; the STi was out on loan by a friend who has already returned it... I'm sure I can stop by a dealer and take more pics if necessary although it won't be on the street ;-)
2) The 5 car lineup shot and other mountain road shot was taken by a professional photographer (I think I mentioned that in the credits). The rest, however, are my products of my hard work...
3) I didn't get the GPS nav. system because of the cost; also, it's cheaper to go third-party for that type of stuff. The latest systems really rock although they cost an arm and a leg.
Cheers!
legacyb4 04-26-2001, 12:13 AM Why no Evo VII?
Because it (apparently) chews through your transmission and only sports a 48 liter gas tank...
Also, it's so heavily loaded with driver aids that it's no longer a driver's car...
Cheers.
