I'm taking the SVX in for some routine stuff later this week and wanted to get some thoughts on external transmission filters. I think the 92-93s had a TSB for these to be installed but I never heard anything about maintenance. How often should it be changed, if ever? do I need to replace it with the exact Subaru part? can I replace it with one of those nifty Perma-cool deals with a built in temp. gauge( http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/cool.gif!)? All comments are appreciated.

If your car already has the Subaru filter on,it is very easy and cheap to replace(around ten bucks).It never hurts to put on a new filter even before the recommended interval.As for the Permacool filter, it is a much better setup.I just put one on my 92 yesterday.
