View Full Version : Is/was anybody on the West Coast able to get below MSRP? danc 02-01-2001, 08:22 AM For those of you in the west (CA, OR, WA, etc.)...Anyone able to find a dealer willing to sell below MSRP? If so, where? Thanks, Dan C FUBAR 02-01-2001, 08:52 AM yep I got 800 over invoice at Livermore Subaru in (Livermore, CA) I have relatives in Sacramento so I'll make a mini vacation out of it and have a nice "break in" drive back to Washington. The sales person I made the deal w/ said that they weren't going to offer this price anymore due to the response they had. I know a lot of other Bay area subie people got 750 over invoice at a dealer in Santa Cruz but I don't know if that offer is still good. I saw a post for 800 over invoice for a dealer in Beaverton OR. So I think a deal below MSRP can be had if your persistant. Don't try Tacoma Subaru they would only give me 750 OVER MSRP, I laughed and walked out. Try going to the Bay area forum and checking w/ them. bhickson 02-01-2001, 09:11 AM Several people were able to get $1000 over invoice at Balboa Subaru in San Diego. For more info, do a search for 'Balboa', I'm sure some of the posts regarding it will turn up. danc 02-01-2001, 09:18 AM Thanks for the responses! I just called Carr Subaru (Beaverton, OR), and they are indeed offering $800 over invoice. Very much appreciated! Kinda stupid of me, really. They are the closest dealer to my house. But I was partial to Wentworth (.3 miles farther) because I had bought there before, and was under the impression for some reason that all west coast dealers were colluding to sell at MSRP. Glad to be wrong! FUBAR 02-01-2001, 09:37 AM Congrats, I had already put my order in at Livermore in CA when I saw the post for Carr in Beaverton. Oh well it should be a nice drive backup. I think I'll drive HWY 1 up the N Ca coast. Man I can't wait! bobski 02-01-2001, 09:48 AM Holy cow, FUBAR! That's a long way to go to get your WRX. Hehe, I live five minutes from the dealership. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif I was originally on the Santa Cruz deal, but Livermore matched it so at the last minute I went with them (they better...this will be my 4th Subaru from them). Our WRX's will probably arrive at the same time. Look me up when you're in town. I'll show you some local roads to test the handling. Bob FUBAR 02-01-2001, 09:59 AM Bobski - Yeah it's a bit of a drive but, I can't complain about the deal. I didn't want to kick myself if I missed that price. Besides it'll be nice to visit family and friends. I'm planning on coming down the day they get them in. I don't want anyone else "test" driving my car. I'll let you know when I'm down for the test drive/purchase. If they give me a definitive arrival date in advanced I'll be there that day so I'm sure we'll meet. Did they give you an order number or receipt for your deposit? I sent my deposit in yesterday, just wondering what to expect from them next. Bob Rooster 03-22-2001, 03:30 PM I just picked up one from Balboa for 1k over invoice the man to see is Zack Hoffman fleet manager nice guy... If anyone is interested I have a yellow on order at Timmons in Long Beach that will be ready in April. Lew yukon1 03-22-2001, 06:06 PM Yes that sounds like a good deal at carr but do they have the cars now or are they taking orders for them? thebusiness999 03-22-2001, 06:49 PM Balboa Subaru in San Diego gave me $1000 below MSRP, but last I heard is that they're now marking up prices, so I don't know MIT560 03-23-2001, 12:32 AM Fresno Clawson Honda Subaru $800+ below MSRP. They just received a black AUTOhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif WRX Wagon and will be receiving one white and one blue WRX Manualhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Sedans. They are not spoken for from what the sales man told me. Clawson does not know to much about the car, this is probably why they are negotiating prices. If you have AAA towing service you can get the 800 off and the rest is all up to your negotiation skillshttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif [This message has been edited by MIT560 (edited March 22, 2001).] fubaru2 05-16-2001, 01:23 PM Carr in Beaverton is still offering $800 over invoice AFAIK. That's the deal I have for my bare bones WRX due in June. danc 05-16-2001, 01:30 PM fubaru2, Yep, stupid me. After I posted that, I emailed them, and they are still offering $800 over invoice for pre-sold orders. Two months is worth $4k or so to me (on the lot, the deal is $3k over MSRP). Amazing anyone would pay that. Though I wonder how much they publicize the "$800 over invoice" to the interested customer (i.e. sucker) on the lot? WillReckXhop 05-16-2001, 05:10 PM damn livermore those liers they told me they have never sold below msrp and they would never sell under because they had no reason too, since they could sell at msrp. thats why i didnt go there but good for the people who got below msrp. me i went to downtown oakland. got mine for 800 over invoice. Bret my dealer these were his exact words when we were figuring out a price: "i am not going to make you pay msrp." and then said how about 800 over and we said sure. now i have a car in the mail. peace WRXskey 05-16-2001, 05:53 PM while olooking through the classifieds in the LA Times i saw an ad for a dealership that said "we will not be undersold. we are the wrx superstore!" i called the number to find out that they are selling their WRXs for $23,002. he said thats 500 over invoice. they are located about 10 minutes from palm springs. I live in LA, so the drive looks brutal, but i would be down for it if i lived in southern cali. kdmd2b 05-16-2001, 09:31 PM WRXskey, Is that dealership Subaru Superstore in La Quinta? I am hoping to buy a WRX in about a month. I have been trying to find out where the best place to go would be. I have heard Subaru Irvine is really friendly but I would really like to pay less than MSRP and I have heard they won't budge. I wasn't too impressed with the closest dealership to me Subaru of San Bernardino. Please let us know where you find a good price and good service. Kurt danc 05-17-2001, 12:22 AM Sorry to resurrect this, but ... Does anybody know if any NW dealers are still offering below MSRP? Thanks! |
