Anyone have helpful info on a 98 RS clutch pedal that goes soft when driving in traffic. Fluid levels are fine, and has a tendency to do it during hot outside temps.

the clutch fluid gets too hot and causes this i think

it sure does...I'm still not sure if it's actually leaking past the seal in the slave cylinder or not...

I wrapped my line in aluminum foil and zip tied it all in place, then I open my hood scoop in the summer time...seems to work well.

First try bleeding the clutch:

If that will not help, then it's most likely the slave cylinder's return spring getting weak. Time to get a new slave cylinder.

This seems to be a common problem.

I just went through this. Long, long story short, I ended up replacing the clutch slave cylinder because the spring was shot. After fixing this, I couldn't build pressure and ended up replacing the master cylinder, too. I only have about 65K miles on the car, but they probably equate to about 130K miles. :p
