Did the MY95 and MY96 OBS have front AND rear discs?
http://www.cars101.com/impreza_archive93_96.html
I looked in that site, and then later the MY97+ had drums on rears.
Is it a site mistake or if true, why change from discs to drums? Were there something bad about it (eg: like MY98 RS with the DOHC EJ25)
Also, when was the year they started the de-powered SRS airbags?
Thanks

Rear discs were optional in 95/96. They switch to only drums in 97 except for the RS. Probably a cost savings measure and a marketing ploy to sell more RSs.
You can swap in discs from any disc braked Impreza or Legacy, H6 legacy disc will require larger wheels though. You are best to get the whole knuckle to do this swap. Many have done this swap. Shop around for used parts and it's not so bad.
The drums do, however, work just fine. Performance shoes can be purchased too. The main reason for a swap is reduce fade if you track, canyon run, or tow and cosmetics.
I would guess the new generation airbags were around 00 but I don't know for sure.

how hard would a wrx rear disk conversion be on a 93L? I'm thinking of doing WRX brakes all around on the L, as it is becoming my project car :)
