View Full Version : WRX Borla Headers rlhobbs 07-10-2003, 12:33 AM Im thinking about purchasing some headers for my WRX, and I was looking at the Borla headers. Has anyone purchased these and put them on there car? What did you think after install? JWAG 07-10-2003, 11:57 PM I just put these on. I can't tell about the performance, due to lots of other mods also installed at the same time. But the fittment and finish are perfect. With the ceramic coating they look really clean. For the price they are a great value. rlhobbs 07-11-2003, 12:19 AM Thanks for the reply. I was just shopping around and was curious to everyone else's thoughts. bunot 07-15-2003, 02:02 PM i'm about to install mine tonite....will let you know afterwards. jason bunot 07-17-2003, 03:38 PM ok, after a couple of days of spirited driving....love it!!! throatier sound and i can feel a harder hitting boost when it kicks. lagged a bit more by a few hundered RPMs but the kick is definitely stronger. install is fairly easy. the uninstall of the stock headers was a pita. most of the bolts were seized and rusted and it took 4 hours to take the stock one off. but putting the borla in was 15 minutes. jason D_Sagan 08-01-2003, 11:45 AM I just installed my Borla headers (ceramic coated) this past weekend and I must say the car sounds more "cammy"/lumpy at idle but there is definitely some power gained by installing them. My trap speeds at the drag strip increased by 2 mph too..... Can't complain but there is an additional 150 - 200 rpms of lag on the stock turbo.... With the addition of my headers my entire exhaust is now aftermarket. Time for a banana. skibri 08-01-2003, 01:34 PM I have had these on my car for a few mounths now and i love them. The fitment is awsome they look great and since they are not equal length they maintain the true sound of a boxer engine. I would say that they gave me quite a bit more power and just a better pedel feel in genneral. I would also say that there is no reason to pay extra money for any other system since these work great. shields102 08-10-2003, 12:17 PM I have the un-coated borlas on my car. I have thremo-tec wraped them however. On my dyno pulls for ecutek tuneing, we overlaped my curve with a curve from another ecutek tuned car with identical mods minus the header................turbo spooled exactly like stock when the pipes were warm. The only difference was a higher peak number on my car. Both had stock turbos. I was very pleased. Tobey 08-15-2003, 08:48 PM Originally posted by shields102 I have the un-coated borlas on my car. MAD REX 10-12-2003, 07:37 PM It says they are coated. Is that jet hot coated or something else? And if it is Jet Hot is the Jet Hot 2000? SubaruStore.com 10-13-2003, 11:21 AM its more of a ceramic coating... almost polished looking. Hank: we have them on sale for $350 right now thanks Brad |
