Vivid Racing is proud to introduce B&B Performance Exhaust Systems for your 2002-2004 WRX/STI.

Since 1985 B&B Performance Exhaust has designed, tested and manufactured the highest quality stainless steel headers and exhaust systems available. B&B's experience has lead to evolved products that fit and sound as well as they perform, while able to withstand the harsh automotive environment.

Founded by Billy Boat, professional racecar driver and third generation master fabricator, B&B Performance Exhaust got its start as specialists in Porsche 911 performance exhaust systems, oil coolers and intercoolers. The name "Tri-Flo" originated from the unique 3-into-1 Porsche header developed by Billy, which remains the leading and most imitated header in the Porsche market.

The Subaru WRX/STI Turbo Back Exhaust system is now available. Full 3" 304 stainless steel, this system is designed how a turbo cars exhaust should be. Using a split collector to seperate the wastegate and turbine gases, unlike other manufacturers who use a bellmouth which causes to much turbulence and unefficient air flow. The downpipe also has 1/2 thick flanges and uses a flex joint to keep the small movements in the system during driving from not harming the car. The center muffler section uses a resonator to get that deep racing sound that is signature to B&B Exhaust systems. The rear muffler is made in house unlike other manufacturers, it is designed to provide the correct amount of flow, resonation, and pressure a turbo car should have. The rear double walled polished tips are 3" each and are welded on. This entire catless setup for your 2002-2004 WRX/STI provides a great sound and power increase of about 25 horsepower. Dyno results coming soon.

B&B has also released a header for your 2002-2004. The header is a 4 into 1 design with a joint collector. The center portion uses B&B signature slip joint to allow for expansion under heavy heat. The header is also 321 stainless steel with TIG welds.

Amen......a boxer engine would be nice. I see one Porsche in that list, but what's a PRT?

I'd be interested if I had some feedback. How it sounds on a WRX, specific performance output (dyno chart, hp and torque gains at the wheels and not just crank outputs), customer recommendations - how the system has lasted on their car over time, any type of warrenty? Ease of install...perfect fit? Leakage? And all the other good stuff. What's the deal.

First let me say, kudo's to Dan and the guys at Vivid. I know for a fact that Dan and I (separately) have been bugg'n local exhaust fabers in the valley for a WRX TBE for over a year.

Thank God B&B finally finished 1st!

GHL is still working on their proto-type but dont seem to have the time to finish the jigs up for production.

Secondly, B&B is a top notch quality establishment! They have a awsome product and care about quality and craftmanship. You wont be disappointed with their product!

Had I known that they were this close to production, I would never ordered my BPM TBE. I would have waited for the B&B and got it HPC coated.

As it is, I am considering selling my BPM for the B&B, but I dont know if I can justify the amount of cash lost.

I am interest on getting the exhausts and the headers, since the Sti is a pretty new car, may I ask if cuttings will be required for the exhaust to fit onto the car? Or is it just a straight-forward install?

Vivid can verify, but the TBE should be a Direct Bolt On, same as on the WRX or the STi, as they share the same exhaust routing.

However, the Header may not fit, since the header was more than likely designed for the 2.0L Turbo block and heads.

The STi has a 2.5L block and heads, I am pretty sure that the 2.0L header will fit the 2.5L.

I personally have not seen anyone with an STi perform this mod yet, though I have seen several posts from people stating that the WRX header will fit the STi.

Again Vivid can verify all of the above.

Does B&B have plans on releasing just the downpipe? Does the header come with an uppipe? When will these be available?

vividracing

Sorry for the delay. The turboback will bolt on with no mods to a STI or WRX 02-04. The header you are correct about for the STI as the STI uses the 2.5L so no it will not fit the STI.

B&B will be releasing just the downpipe through us to be used on your stock system or aftermarket catback.

Thanks

Any estimate on price or availability of the downpipe? I already have the Cobb catback system and just need the downpipe.

I cant find the cat back B&B on the website....

vividracing
09-11-2003, 07:48 PM
The catback is not finished as they are changing a couple of things from being the downpipe can only work with their catback hence a turboback, to being you can use it with any downpipe or use there downpipe with any catback. If you want to put your name in for one please call. Or you can order the muffler that is available for it or the full turboback.

Thanks!

Does the turbo-back fit around the center differential protector?

vividracing
09-22-2003, 12:34 PM
I am not sure if it fits the center diff protector as the piping is 3" like many other systems.

TSReynolds
09-22-2003, 10:05 PM
Can you find out or is there a way to cut into the protector or something? I am really interested in the exhaust.

vividracing

You can totally trim the plate. Not the exhaust though! :)

I just recieved my exhaust but the down pipe is solid no flex section like the picture, straight pipe, also in the pic there is a muffler canister after down pipe, the one I recieved is a glass pack?

vividracing

B&B changed their design... The new one fits better and in addition allows you to bolt their products up to other manufacturers instead of requiring other B&B stuff! Sounds like you got the new one!
