View Full Version : Anyone's steering wheel seem off-center?
Alex S 04-12-2001, 07:26 PM Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that their steering wheel is not centered. Mine seems to be rotated slightly to the right. Is this something that can be adjusted? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif
ANZAC_1915 04-12-2001, 07:27 PM Yeah, mine is leaning that way. I think it is how the RE92's wear. I'm going to get it aligned when I get the new wheels on it.
It is an easy adjustment.

rkkwan 04-12-2001, 07:49 PM Mine is very slightly rotated to the right as well, but i decided it was just too minor. And since I put the 18" wheels on, it's even less so.
It seems like yours is not an isolated case.
John0872 04-12-2001, 07:50 PM Mine too. just slightly to the right. It's been that way since I drove it off the lot. Still drives straight though.

fatty mcgee 04-12-2001, 10:58 PM yep, me too. actually quite a bit it seems. glenn, you say it's an easy adjustment? is it just something u can ask the dealer to do? thanks.
subaRoux 04-12-2001, 11:55 PM Mine does too. Good to know that I am not alone
Mine too, could be from the crown of the road.
WRXWorm 04-13-2001, 06:39 AM Mine is just slightly to the right too.
Samirr76 04-13-2001, 07:29 AM We should change the subject of this post to "How's it hangin'?" http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif Hehehe. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif
SubEd 04-13-2001, 07:31 AM With all this talk about steering wheel mis-alignment, I'm having second thoughts about buying one!

Actually, I'm at T-minus 6 days (or so, I hope) 'til it's mine!!!!

Yep! I’m just to the right of Center also.
I wonder if our cars were all built on the same day. It probably was one person on the line that was consistent in their work…. To bad it was just a little to the right!
In the past 15 years I have had at least 10 new company cars. An off center steering wheel is not uncommon. I do not know how many times I have seen it, certainly more than 2 or 3 times.
In any event, Looks like we may all be able to get a free alignment out of it. I just talked to the local Subaru dealer and he said “no problem” it covered under warranty. They will correct it at my convenience. It should take about an hour. He said that after they centered the wheel they would check and correct the alignment. I’m in no hurry to get it done. I’m going to wait to do it at the 3,000 mile service.
SubEd, I love you humor. I was just about to write about all the whining we will probably see, but you nailed it!
Happy motoring!, 927 miles………. Just 62 miles to go… until rock and roll…….
megatron 04-13-2001, 08:35 AM My steering wheel was also pointing to the right a little when I picked up my WRX. I took it in for an alignment a few days later at the dealership. It's still pointed to the right, but the car drives straight so I assume it's not a big deal, nor is it wearing the tires in any way.

FUBAR 04-13-2001, 08:41 AM mine was the same way. took it to dealer and asked them to check the alignment to make sure. They fixed it now its slightly to the left. Still drives straight though!
over_rev 04-13-2001, 11:48 AM good to know that I'm not lone.....i guess we have to re-learn how to drive the WRX....
Mine is also ever so slightly turned to the right.
tacksharp: I also find the car affected by cross-winds, but not too bad.
Chuck Annicelli 04-13-2001, 09:25 PM Mine was turned to the left and would pull left. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it NO Charge. It is now PERFECT.

tacksharp 04-14-2001, 12:26 AM Yes, mine was slightly to the right and the car pulled slightly to the right. The dealer did an alignment (free of course) and now the car goes straight, but the wheel is now turned just slightly to the left. It's just slightly annoying.
BTW, has anyone noticed how the WRX is not so stable with high cross-winds? I'm guessing the caster is very shallow (steep?) and makes the steering less stable in a straight line.
