i just ordered some of these from SD and i was wondering what i need to get them to work with an HID kit(which kits are good quaility, and what can i expect to pay). EDM STI lights already have leveling motors, i just need a switch right? sorry for the newb questions

I'm assuming these are for 2002-2003 Imprezas, not 2004+.

HID kits are really scarce right now from any legitimate dealer. There will be fines for any dealer selling retrofit kits.

Anyways, I have the 4500K Catz kit in my EDM lights.

You don't need the leveling switch to use the lights. You just lose the ability to lower your lights if you have a lot of stuff in the trunk. The hard part is finding/making a wiring harness. You can't get it from the dealer and no one sells the harness. You can do a search for some homemade harnesses. You will need to six pin switch not the four pin one.

I bought some 3M stonegard headlight protection from www.allsubaru.com (http://www.allsubaru.com) for about $59. It includes protection for the headlights and foglights (unfortunately they don't separately sell protection just for the headlights). Awesome and highly recommended vendor. Excellent customer service and communication courtesy of of Subie Gal. Little biased towards these guys cuz they are located locally for me in the NW. You might also want to try www.rockblocker.com (http://www.rockblocker.com), I've heard they got some good protection stuff to.

OK, here's the deal. The lights were shipped from Europe via a carrier and there were some Customs issues due to the supplier not providing all of the available info for the lights to clear. Needless to say, no one was informed and the customs malee ensued. Now the lights are enroute via Airborne ground (no idea why) and heaven helping, should arrive in to LA tomorrow or Sat. The lights will ship out the day they arrive from my house- you have my word. I look at it like this- unlike the 40+ people who NEVER got their LHD's at all, we are doing good.

Sounds good to me. I guess good things come to those who wait. Thanks again for the updates Kopf_Jager, Suby_dude, and whoever else seems to be running this group buy. :D

I am the main point of contact on this GB, but be assured, SD is on top of this everyday. Right now we are waiting on slow arse Airboren Express- package is over 300lbs and they are saying that is why the delay. I think it's bs.

I wanted to post that to show people that there IS a package.. and that we are waiting for its arrival.

i know you guys don't want to hear excuses but certain things got fouled up w/ this shipement that has been the cause of the delay...

- first was the paperwork... lack of paperwork actually
- customs saw that there was lack of paperwork and that did us in
- the fact that the shipment is in ONE BIG PALLET... did not help us either

as you can see from the tracking info the pallet is over 300 lbs... i'm sure they are finding the cheapest way to get that to us... probably consolidating a truck to drive from OH to LA is my guess.

as soon as we hear something... be sure you will hear about it here on this thread.

i have damon keeping on top of it.

and at the end of this you will all have bad ass LHD STI lights to floss!

YES BOYS AND GIRLS... the lights sitith in my garage :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: I have inspected some of them, but I will open ALL boxes to ensure they have no damage. All 10 sets arrived (finally :rolleyes: ) and SD is sending the shipping labels tonite. We had a hard go to get them here, but rest assured, Subydude NEVER lets down his customers- EVER!!!! LHD STi lamps enroute to you all... as he said!!! I anticipate tracking info for you all by tommorrow and I will ship via FedEx on Monday morning. I may be able to get them out by noon tommorrow, but let's bank on Monday.

Is it necessary to remove the battery? The only reason I ask is because the scoobymods instructions (http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1525) are the only instructions that I have read that says to remove the battery. Would using a harness not require the removal of the battery?

Removal of the battery simply allows you more "working room" in actually wiring the lights in. I didn't remove anything, I just disconnected the ground and went to town soldering...

SubyDude's GB price was pretty good, IMO. The next cheapest I've seen(non-GB price), is $930.

Price will be determined prior to the next GB. Rising freight costs (Internationally that is) and the value of the dollar are the critical factors. Not too sure we can keep the price that low this next go round- but we'll see.
