I know that people have had mixed reviews on these headlights. I just the other day blacked out my stock 02 impreza headlights completely except the actual headlight reflection part. My question is I love the look of projectors but I find the "ebay special" lights incredibbly ugly with the huge clear turn signal cover area. Could i paint those the same way I did my stock headlights and has anyone actually done this. The people that do have these headlights or have had them in the past what are some things you encountered with them. I am basically just contemplating buying a set to toy around with and see if I can actually make them into a decent headlight with new bulbs and some spraypaint. Thanks....
There were a couple of posts on these a while back - what I took from them was that, as functioning as a headlight goes, they suck. They are also not projectors - they are small, round, reflector lights.

They're junk-
As stated they are not projectors, they are poorly made, and as supplied the wiring doesn't work properly.

I got my headlights from ebay, and the wiring has to be professionally (the plugs don't work) done and my right blinker has about half an inch of water in it.
Avoid them like the plague.

Sounds like I will keep to my blacked out stock headlights and seek the path of clutch/turbo
I've actually seen these lights in person...and I swear to you, a Mag-Lite flashlight taped to your hood would probably do a better job. I would not feel safe at all driving a car with these at night.
Actually the light output ain't bad. The problem is that they are relfectors without proper beam pattern for driving lights/low beams. (The lenses are the same as the high beams.) They blind pretty much all oncomming traffic. The Hella 90mm projector beams that can be bought at www.rallylights.com will fit, but you will have to modify the rear mounting points (probably not a big deal, but it will take some custom fabricating). At $54 a piece ( * 4 if you want to get the Hella high beams) you are getting pretty close to a used set of Morettes or Ociari lights.
The blinker part is not well sealed so you will get water inside the lense. One of mine fell off, which didn't bother me as I was planning on removing them anyways. I'll try to post some pictures of the lights when I have time.
Oh, and the lights seem to have discolored slightly on the inside after having used them for a little bit. Don't think it will get worse, but I have a feeling the bulbs that come with are running a bit hot.
The wiring also needs minor modification to work. Easy to fix though. I tried following the directions from scoobymods.com on how to use relays so I could have the low beams on with the highs, but that didn't work either. Pretty sure I followed directions, but after blowing too many fuses and the lights not turning off when the ignition was off kind of bothered me.
Basically, you get what you pay for....

If you figured it out you are a better man than I. I say these once and I wouldnt even try my hand at fixing the wireing.
They just changed up the pinouts a little. The middle wire (white I think) is the common wire that goes to both bulbs. The left wire (looking at the back of the blue connector when plugged into the stock harness) (blue wire I think) goes to the low beam, while the right wires (the two black ones) go to the high beam. Doesn't really matter where the left and right wire go you can always switch the plugs between the two reflectors.
Only downside to this setup is that the low beams turn off when the high beams go on. But, considering how much trouble it is to hook that up its probably not worth it.
