I am considering buying a WRX later this year. Does anyone have information about availability. I know Subaru originally planned to sell only 10,000 WRXs this year, but I'm wondering if they plan to make more based on the high demand. The latest I heard is that they now plan to sell 12,000. I'm hoping they will make enough to meet demand for the whole year. I am trying to determine the risk I am taking in waiting.

I am in a similar position. I think that they will still be available later in this year. Although the WRX is a great car, I believe (and hope) that it will not be incredibly popular. One reason is that many people looking for a sporty car aren't ready to accept Subaru as a sports car and others aren't willing to spend the money on a car that lacks a sunroof and other such features. Reading this forum certainly makes it seem like the WRX will sell out, but remember the people here love the WRX and we aren't always objective. On the other hand, many reviews I have read say that the WRX will sell out soon. I suppose no one knows for sure but I am hoping that there will be enough left for those of us that aren't ready to purchase quite yet.

I'm in a similar situation. I plan on buying in September or October. I know the dealerships around the Minneapolis area don't have many left. I suppose they trickle in and are bought up quickly. A couple of months ago I could see at least one at most dealers but that is no longer the case. I'm planning on ordering mine. I've been doing some asking around and will let you know when and if I get any satisfactory answers.

You will probably be better off putting your money in a savings account and waiting for the STi version.

I'm planning on waiting too... and I've thought about the STI angle as well. Thing is, I just dropped a new motor and turbos in my RX-7, so I'm going to drive it a little while at least. The WRX is very appealing though! I'm looking hard at the wagon version - anyone know if the STI will be offered as a wagon? I would not be surprised if it was sedan only.
