View Full Version : Colorado Subaru Quarter Mile Registry

pace

I have thrown together a basic quarter-mile registry for Colorado scoobies. Your timeslip is eligible for submission if (a) you are a Colorado resident, and (b) your timeslip is from a session at a Colorado dragstrip.

Colorado Subaru Quarter-Mile Registry (http://codrags.scoobytech.net)

Do NOT contact me either directly or via PMs, with submissions. There are instructions at the bottom of the quarter-mile listing.

Finally, if you're not interested, think this is pointless, or have some other negative comment; don't waste your breath. I'm not interested. ;)

Come on guys lets see everyone's times. :D Should be interesting to see what everyone is running and be able to compare how we are all doing up here.

Thanks Pace for putting something like this together so we can see how the mile high city is representing at the drags.

While I'm not a supporter of the "Stages" of modifications it would be a brief way to get an idea of what typical mods were present at the time of the run. Just a suggestion. :)

Slip sent...

Slip sent...

That's a very valid point. The problem however, is that most of those 12-second cars you see there are not running pre-packaged stages and thus have a very diverse list of modifications. I stated whether the car was running nitrous, and also listed the turbocharger type since that has obvious implications regarding injector sizing and boost levels etc. It would probably be feasible for us to list the EMS being utilized as well if people think that is valuable info.

Thanks for your comments and the timeslip. ;)

I would think detailing what mods were present with the run be most benificial, however I think if someone is that interested in what the car had they could contact the driver privately and not clutter up the registry. Perhaps ad a email tag to the names column?

I think it would be interesting to see where various forms of engine management fall into the ranks... However I suspect the list will be dominated by a particular one, for good reason ;)

If the group decides to list EM as a catagory I'm UTEC'd.

pace

Agreed... listing the car configuration would be most beneficial, but it's going to be time consuming and takes up a lot of space. Your idea about linking to the owner email is good, and another option would be to have a hyperlinked mini-profile for each owner where car modifications are detailed. Again, time and effort is the constraint here but I'll give it some thought.

The current HTML setup is not ideal anyway. I just didn't have time yet to throw together a few JSPs or php script to allow folks to submit their data directly to the database; which I will do at some point in the near future.

There are seven 12-sec timeslips currently listed. Only three of them were run with UTecs. However I do expect that percentage will increase since it seems to be the EMS of choice now, as you stated.

Justin,

nice times. Welcome to the registry. What about the rest of you guys. I know there are more of you guys that have time slips from Bandi and Pmi.

Ronin: Thanks for the complement! That was my 2nd trip down the 1320 EVER! I had hopes to break a 13.99 but it wasnt going to happen on the stock exhaust and without further fine tuning and a little 100 Octane ;)

I've got some secret squirl stuff planned so I'll be seeing you guys in the 12's soon :)

Why are you embarrased about your timeslips. It is just a measuring stick and if you had fun running, that's all that matters. Oh, and not breaking anything. This isn't a honda forum. It's all good. I think most of us are here are supporters and not haters. I don't think Pace's intention were to make anyone feel embarrassed. Come on, post your times!

Yep,
Sept. 7th is the IRDC race. I think it cost $65 for heads up racing and $45 for the bracket racing. There are also a bunch of test n' tunes you could hit in the mean time. You will get more for your money with the test n' tunes. Every Wed. in August.

Also to note that the EM he listed is a ECUtek reflash. :)

They do after I kick their boyfriends Honda to the curb. I've had no issues with women not liking this car , at all. My G/F picked this car out , as a matter of fact. She also has no problem with me racing this car on the street or the track. She likes fast cars just as much as I do. Pretty cool chick.

I have a silly question about the list , that is also technical. I thought the factory turbo was a Garret T25 , not a Mitsubishi 13G. Anybody wish to explain to me? And feel free to hit me for the silly question............:alien:

The stock turbo is a TD04L-13G with a distinctive 3-bolt pattern that is essentially unique to Subaru applications.

We only wish we had the Garret bolt pattern... :p

Actually , no we don't. I'm glad we don't. The T-25 in particular is very fragile. I know that from dealing with them on the 2nd gen DSM's. The 13G is also present on the 1st gen DSM turbo automatic tranny cars.

I said we wish we had garret compatibility, I didn't say I wish we had the T-25. If you are truly thankful that we have an obscure turbine bolt pattern then I think you haven't done much experimentation with WRX turbo swaps.

Surprising that you say the T-25 is so fragile though, considering it is fitted to a large number of turbocharged sportbikes. Maybe it was just ill-matched to your application..

Not my particular application , I had a 1G , which has the larger 14B turbo. I have seen many , many T25 failures amongst the 2G DSM crowd , mostly caused by boosting above 15 psi for extended periods. Sportbike motors are approximatley 1/3 the size of a DSM motor , so the T25 would be perfect for those applications , as well as the B16/B18's in the Honda's and other NT applications where not much more airflow cfm is required nor desirable. I'm just saying , in this instance , I'm glad we do not have T25's , as it seems boosting engine sizes of 2.0 liters and above is too much for it to handle. It seems perfect for applications of .5 to 1.5 liters. The 3000GT comes with a pair of T25's , and the 13G is considered an upgrade by the people that mod those. I'm not arguing with you , we just have different experiences and opinions . :p

pace
08-07-2003, 05:04 PM
We don't have differing opinions. You're just failing to recognize that I said we wish we had the Garret bolt pattern. I run a 20G. Why on earth would I envy a T-25?

The bikes running the T-25s are over half the capacity of the DSM motor (1100-1300cc). As you said, this turbo is ill-matched to the DSM application. As would my 20G be for an 800HP Supra. That doesn't make them 'fragile turbos'.

Are we done hijacking the quarter-mile thread yet?
