I just reset my ECU and now my doesn't idle. The RPM s just drop to ZERO when I lay off pf the gas and my car stalls out.

Any ideas on whats going on with this?

THANKS,
Kevin

Drive the car for a while. The ECU may have to re-learn the proper parameters for the idle air control to restore normal idle.

Hope your right, because I really can't be driving a car that stalls at every red light....

Unless you're using the wrong ECU or have extremely modified your engine, this should not be happening. Even if you were, it still shouldn't happen. Firstly, the ECU does have built-in info on how to run the idle air control valve, and secondly, even without the IAC valve the throttle body allows some air through, enough for a low idle. The factory fuel and ignition maps are sufficient to get ignition to happen.

What else did you do when you reset the ECU? Is it possible you disconnected something or created a vacuum leak?

SIGH ....

Well, my car is sitting in front of the local mechanics shop now. I don't know what happened. I put on a Ram air intake pipe from Weapon R, but I kept the stock air box and O2 sensor.

The hoses are connected right and I even drove it around alittle while before I reset the ECU. Then I reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery and I had the above problem.

I think my idle motor might have gone bad or something cause the car does not idle AT ALL. If I let off the gas the RPMs drop almost to Zero and then the engine stalls out. Then the Check engine and Oil Temp Light come on.

I'm thinking that tuning just may not be for me...

I would be very surprised if the ECU is responsible for your failure to idle.

Maybe when you paused to disconnect the battery you shook loose one of the vacuum lines going to the intake or something?

Did the aftermarket intake have a fitting for every vacuum hose that used to attach to the stock intake plumbing? Were they all securely atached?

Like I said before, even with a dead idle air control valve, you should still be able to sustain a low idle.

Please let us know what comes of the mechanic visit.

I get the same problem on my 95 Legacy after the ECU's been reset due to battery disconnection and then I try to just drive off.

Here's what you should try. When the engine is cold, reset the ECU again (i.e. disconnect battery). Then start the car and just let it idle until coolant temp reaches normal operating value (maybe wait until you hear the radiator fan kick in).

Theres your problem right there.. "Weapon R" They make absolute cheap crap man. You should have bought something better.

My .02.. take it how you like it.. just every Weapon R thing ive seen is really poor quality.
