I have had my 02 WRX for about 13 months. Today for the first time I tried a power launch from 3800 rpm. The car went like stink but the clutch just stunk! I could not shake that smell. 4 miles to my house from said spot, still stunk. How do you guys get through an afternoon of dragracing? I would have blacked out.

Its gonna leave a lovely hase on the inside of your windows too. Be prepared to scrub that off.

Just think of the smell as aversion therapy to save your warranty! :D
BTW, you will get the inside window haze no matter what you do -- it's the plasticizers evaporating from all the new plastic in the car.

Yep, my buddies call it "racin' goo"... not much you can do about it and it's hell tryin to get it off the back window....

practice a little more and you'll be able to launch while reving high and no clutch smell. :)

I don't know how much more launching I will be doing. I have visions of a wafer thin clutch disk as it is. I don't see a warranty in my future with only 9000 miles and a blown out clutch.
