View Full Version : Thinking of installing a Blitz Intake.

As the subject says... I'm toying with the idea of changing the intake.

So where can I find one in Vancouver and what price should I expect to pay (for the SUS).

Also to those DIY folks, is it difficult to install it myself?

Thanks!!!

blitz distributor is REV performance in richmond. i don't know what is the going price because i straight traded my stock airbox w/k&n for mine ;)

it's not difficult to install. just remember to do the ecu reset because i didn't and i got the CEL :(

If ur user name is true and u do drive the STi, installign the Blitz intake is a wast of time. I think i was the first few who installed the Blitz intake locally on my Sti. Anyways immediately u will get the CEL and i heard from many that if the CEL is on, the car is slower.

So therefore I took out the intake the next day and put the stock back on.

If u really want a intake, i was just down at Hot Import Night and i heard from a few that the Turbo XS is one of the few companies out there that offer an intake without the CEL on.

I have been searching around the internet and found the SUS yeilds the best WHP gains. Also the CEL problem seems the be easily resolved by resetting the ECU which is again reconfirmed by Ben 1 post before yours.

The only thing I am waiting from TXS is the UTEC... Yum Yum..:D

Just to check with you, how do you reset the ECU? Some have said to unplug the battery?

How did you get yours done?

i was not aware it did not work for the sti when i answered this post. the ecu reset worked on the wrx. since REV sells them i would just call them up and ask. if they say it dosen't work, don't do it, because the CEL is something u can't ignore and just keep driving on.

is this an issue of the air sensor not being able to handle the increase in airflow and cannot compensate, so it throws up the CEL? REV is also an ECUTEK programmer... maybe they can compensate by doing that, but it isn't cheap

again, talk to REV. or maybe gerry at specialty.

It seems that Dan of Godspeed installed one without any CEL at all! Damm, I am getting confused...

dan's sti isn't very stock is it? did he have any ecu tuning done? someone told me to get something as simple as a S-AFC apexi and dump more fuel to keep it from leaning out... but i never got that far

i'm trying to save up for REV's Ecutek reflash, but it's a $1500 burn :(

Well, from the forums, he was using a BC, Godspeed DP and SUS intake, with 93oct, IC sprays, and BC set at 16.8 PSI, he netted 300++ WHP. All this w/o toying with the a/f ratio.

I personally wrote to DAN to ask about the SUS by itself, his reply was that it does not cause CEL.

Come to think of it, with d/p, intake, and 16psi, it should be much more lean than just a i/t....

I love to believe DAN but seems people are facing problems (like BW)

ive done the homework, sucking in warm engine air isnt what ur car should be doing, blitz is the worst way to go, even cold air intakes dont do too much... put a k&n in and sit on ur stock airbox.. take out the silencer if anything. If you have a FMIC then its a different story.

i originally went the k&n in the airbox/snorkelrectomy before the blitz. big difference with the blitz. but it's from a standing start with no air circulation in the engine bay that's the killer :(

Well, then I guess the best way is to remove the silencer and use the large hole from the "ram air" to channel cold air from the fender into the direction of the intake.

Something like that but with some sort of heat sheild for the Intake too like those INJEN RSX Type.

The problem now is how I am going to fabricate something to channel the air to the intake and at the same time heat sheild it from the engine bay. Humm.....
