Has anyone removed the SUBARU lettering on the rear of their Forester?

My wife wants to remove the lettering and put a WRC logo there, but I wanted to make sure that the letters were just held on with adhesive and not any other means.

Thanks,

Aaron http://www.azscooby.com

They are the same as the Impreza I do believe. All you need to do is take a hair dryer to the letters heat them up alittle and they should come right off. Use a litte goo gone to take any residue off.
IMO just leave it without badging it would look way better than putting on an emblem that has realy nothing to do with that model.

Actually I believe the Foresters are being used as the WRC scout vehicles now. I remeber reading an article that discussed this. Burns was surprised with how well they handled in stock form.

Thanks for the info. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Aaron, I have actually driven a Forrester on an auto-x course and let me tell you... you think the RS has a bad understeer!!! The forrester was 10 times worse under heavy cornering!

Eric

And not to burst your bubble, but I read an article in USA today a while back that gave the % chance of dieing in a rollover for various cars and do you know what the Forrester % was!!! 100% !!! I didn't even know that was possible! But anyway, enjoy your new car! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

There IS probably a very good chance to die in a rollover if you are driving a Forester. That's probably because IF you roll over a Forester then you must you must have been going way too fast and/or crashed pretty bad. This is the same for any car, Subaru or not. If anyone is concerned about rolling over, sell your truck, and get a roll cage.

OOps--how did we get from debadging to rollovers?

I thought that last year the Forrester won some sort oif award from the insurance industry for being the safest "SUV" available.

Perhaps these stats come from the fact that you are very unlikely to roll your Forrester, but if you do manage whatever automotive gymnastics required to roll it, the pooch is badly screwed anyway. Sort of like if the Nimitz tries to dock at Santa Monica Pier it will beach iteslf, but if it even tries to dock at the pier, things have gone to hell somehow anyway.

There are holes behind 2 of the letters. So, unless you are planning to put something else there, don't debadge it.

Yup, two holes.

Here is the link to the Forester recon run:

Pretty sweet. I'll take it!

And sorry to burst YOUR bubble (he he), but the founder of the Yahoo Forester Club rolled his over (heavy mods like springs and lift kits) and he was not killed.

In fact, if you check it out the Forester was remarkable - only the roof rack suffered major damage. None of the glass even broke! He walked away, a bit dazzled but unhurt.

There is a metal reinforcement beam from b-pillar to b-pillar that is very sturdy. The Forester is a car (not truck) so it meets or exceeds car safety standards.

The "best bet" rating came from IIHS. It actually scores far better than the Impreza.

One more thing - anti-sway bars for the Impreza fit the Forester. I have the SPT 18mm bar, and I can wag the tail pretty easily.

Maybe you just needed more time at the wheel?

Many thanks! Knowing about the holes is what we were looking for.

What I meant by "truck" was every SUV exept for the Forester.

As far as debagging the Forester, that sucks. I saw this picture today of a Forester debagged and has the clear lights in the back. Check it out.

Maybe we should ask her how she did it, and how much for those clear lights in the back.

That "her" is my gf Kim and thats my Forester, hehe. That picture was taked after I pulled off the letters. The holes are there, you just can't see them. I found a JDM rear Forester emblem and put it on. The tailights are JDM STi units and I got them from Japan. Pam @ iSR should have the part numbers. I gave them to her a while back. Here is how the car looks now.
