I recently just got my forester, and have noticed that whenever I drive on the freeway, bugs just splatter like crazy on my windshield. The stock windshield wipers do not get them off so I have to get a rag and go at it myself if I want a clean windshield. Will getting the hood deflector change the airflow enough to stop this senseless slaughter? ... though I do kill a fair amount with my bumper and grill http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif

Given the vertical nature of the Forester windshield I too have to deal with the bug thing.
If you find an effective deflector please post in this forum. The one Subaru sells doesn't sound like it is very effective at moving the air up .

Yup, the OE deflector doesn't do a whole lot more than protect the leading edge of your hood. I had it for a while on my Forester but noticed that all it did was deflect stuff up a bit higher on my windshield. It also causes your side mirrors to vibrate at speeds of 80mph+.
The best thing to do (other than drive slowly http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif ) is to wax or Rain-X your windshield. Both will make it a little easier for your windshield wipers to get rid of them. Also, don't wait until the bug juice has dries to use the wipers.
