Anthracite wheels look sweet. With black it's the perfect match.

ferretboy,

Go for it! If I can ever see my way clear I'd like to put a set of anthracite 17" P1s on mine. (I don't think gold would look right w/slate lower cladding, not a problem for you. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif) I posted a while back to see if anyone could photoshop that combo for me but no one did - I probably should've provided pix for them to work with.

I did manage to get a copy of the September '99 Evo magazine, in which a '00 Forester S Turbo (UK spec) was fitted with a set of 7-spoke Prodrive WR Sport wheels in anthracite, shod with 215/50ZR17 PZeros. The S Turbo is the same two-tone black and slate as my S so it gave me a good idea of what mine would look like with that combo.

That does raise a question: If S's come equipped with 215/60xR16s, then shouldn't the plus-one be 225/50xR17?

Keep us posted!

Ed

thanks for the responses guyshttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
I would be considering wheels with a 205/50/17 toyo proxes ts-1's, but gotta get some chaching first. Anyone interested in buying a custom painted fisher joshua? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif BTW did you guys see the post about jdm rims in vendor forum?

I don't think technomagesios fit.

As long as they are 7" wide and have a 45mm backspacing (and a 4x100mm bolt circle), why wouldn't they fit?

I don't know the specs of the technomagnizios, though, maybe that's why...

Remember, the Impreza requires a different backspacing (like 54mm or something) so Impreza rims will be wrong. They may fit, but they will change the steering geometry.

Okay, so I haven't checked into it and won't run out in the rain and measure it, but what is the offset on Foresters? 45mm? Will the P1s not fit properly?

Yes, the Forester Offset is 45mm (with a 7 inch wide rim). The Offset on Impreza rims is 50mm (with a 7 inch wide rim). I would imagine that 5mm would not make enough difference to keep them from fitting as long as you don't lower your Forester. But it will probably slightly effect the feel of your steering and the wheels / tires will sit 5mm further out of the body. This will also cause mud and dirt to splash up the sides of your Forester...

That's a pretty good price. You sell wheels? How do those tires compare with the proxes ts1 tires?

RS*R & ForesterPerformance,

Sorry for the delay in replying - away on Easter vacation. Well that kinda bursts my bubble on the P1s. I get my Forester muddy enough as is, and I don't plan on lowering (or raising) it, but I don't want to screw up the way it drives or handles. I saw those P1s and P7s at the Mastro site but I recall seeing other threads that the P7s were not only heavier than the P1s but also than the stock wheels. Now that may just apply to the 2.5RS wheels so the related question would be what do the Forester S alloys weigh?

Toyo Proxes TS-1 and FZ-4 are unknown quantities to me: does anyone have any experience with them? My thought for a good summer tire was the Bridgestone Potenza RE730. In any case looking for something with better wet & dry pavement grip than those clunky Yoko Geolandars w/o giving up too much traction on loose gravel.

Sorry to morph the discussion into tires as well as wheels, but just fishing for opinions from those with more Subie experience than I.

Ed
