How long do the meets usually last? I might be able to be there...

they go on for an hour and a half to two hours. depending on how much crap we have to talk about. And because Drew is Back with his car we will be talking and bull****ing so this meet will probable be around two hours

He!!, if I were a traffic cop, I'd read that board. :p Anyhow, it would be nice to get more cars, but I'm not sure Hogle Zoo would appreciate something like 50 cars rolling in with fart pipes, etc. :lol:

I hear you Brandon. The Protoge guys were not so bad, except that guy in the white one.. Freakin crazy passing everyone. There was one spot (I was 2nd and 4th in line the whole time) where I thought for sure he was going to wipe out. He went off the road just over the top of East Canyon but managed to steer back on.

I'd rather the ricers stay away.

I invited the guys from the Nissan board already, and there are posts on clubwrx and i-club. I suspect the RX-7s and Proteges will be back too. Drew, if you think posting on slcsr is a good idea, go for it man. ;) I just wasnt sure how many legitimate cars would turn up from that, and our meeting place isnt really suited for a giant turnout if that were to happen. I know there are some guys over there with really nice rides though...

well my 2.2 had some issues...
i broke the rear diff. had about 50mi. left on it before it was about to seaze(sp?), needed a new clutch and flywheel(went thru the clutch in about 6mon). new braked all around, new block becouse my stock one had a crack, powerstearing pump, thats all i can think of for now.( oh and all thos problems appeard after i started driving the car, bought it w/ 50k, sold it a year later w/ almost 80k, and when i bought it it was in mint condition cosidering it was a 96)
so i traded it in when i got my mazda. i wish i was able to keep that car, it was a monster.:banana:

Saturday is an autocross out at copper hills high school. You should check ebay for a WRX you can get it shipped from florida for like 600 buck and there are some pretty good deals on there. If you look really hard you can find on for like 16-18000.

the car that hit the pole was a nissan 240. it had a sr20det in it and it was one bad ace!!! it was one of the best looking 240 ive ever seen around SLC, and the guy was making it into a JDM conversion. he hit the pole not to hard, just hard enougf to break/ crack his front JDM bumper($700 bumper). but the guy owns a body shop so we all just laphed it of, he said it whould only take him 3-4 hours to fix it...so it wasnt a big deal, but we gave his a hard time all day long about it,:D

I am thinking I will be ok in the Mini. It should out corner the subaru's but it is not so hot up the straights. the problem with driving the Ferrari is that you guys would see it for about 1 corner and part of a straight away. It is so much faster than a STI above 60 MPH it is scary. I will see you guys tomorrow evening. I assume we are going to keep the speeds safe until we hit the top of Emigration right? Above the houses speed is fun cant wait to see how the Mini does in the tight and twisties up East canyon...

I just dove inside of the truck and boat. I think he was pissed about it. All in all I think it was a fun drive. I was surprised how well the Mini held its own.

Nothing bad.
Cole was taking off out of the resort parking lot that we all turn around in and his back end caught rocks and suddenly got traction. We slid down the side of the road back into the parking lot. :confused:
Needs new front end and fog light covers! exhaust is pinched after the down pipe i beleive, :huh: and the radiator needs to be bent back to shape. a few dents and dings under the car but, NOTHING COLE WONT BE ABLE TO FIX!!!!
If he wouldnt have been able to control the car as much as he did i think the damage would have been worse. we missed a couple of HUGE rocks but attacked a few too..:lol:

Holy crap! :eek: I was wondering where all the other cars were. Matt was behind me and I saw nobody else in the distance. I just figured the rest of you decided to go further towards the lake...

While the situation does suck, you just dont loose traction pulling out of a parking lot, he really must have been on the gas to get so out of shape on the road......hence why if I had a ferrari, I wouldn't bring it within 100 miles of said meet.

I do hope something is learned from such incidents. I would love to bring back the meets of old, where we hung out and talked about mods, autocross, rallye, did some mods and cruized (read: not tear around)....it was chill. I guess things were just way different in the PNW....when we did drive, we would cruize the coast behind thousands of motorhomes but we never cared, we were cruizin' and having a great time being out there together, pulling aside to get a better view fo the ocean, watch rad scoobs slide by, chill at the next rest stop, awe at the early turbo'd RS's and the craftsmanship we all thought Shiv had back in the day and how we all wanted Adam Bloom's car and why the 22b is still better than the P1 but the STi types RA's and R's (there wasn't any spec c's back in the day :) ) are super rad so on.

I always hated the preachers on BBS's like this. "dont speed....you get whats coming to you....the cop was right to nail you"....and so on, and here I find myself not showing to NASIOC meets because I just "know" someone will do something stupid. Which is totally and completely wrong of me. I don't "know" any of you. Who am I to judge? I went to Brandons first attempt of any sort of meet. I watched someone in a silver WRX blow across the double yellow around a curve going up to Brighton and almost smack the barrier trying to correct. He had zero suspension work, corded tyres and he was talking about upgrading his turbo.........come on. Brood was a few cars back and saw some kid almost loose it in his M3 one turn back. This one meet showed me what I thought I needed to know. Do NOT drive with these kids. I really hope I am wrong....I really do. I hope Cole gets things sorted out. I hope Drew gets the 1/4' time he really wants (along with the perfect set of rims :p ). I hope Kiril gets his whatever the crap he wants. I hope all the future meets are held without incident and I hope I am still welcome at them.

PS- on a side note, Brood snaped some spokes on his Rota rims at the last autocross.....for those out there with Rota's please check your rims for stress cracks or contact Rota if you have any concerns.

I do agree with you Ibis. Maybe it's just because I'm one of the few who is 35 years old. I didn't make it out to this meet, but the last one we kept it right at 35 miles an hour pretty much the whole time. There were a couple of 20 mph hairpin turns I couldn't resist taking at 60-65, but I know my car, have the right rims/tires and suspension and know the limits.

Just because Cole did something stupid and banged up his STI doesn't mean you can't hang with us. I know where you're coming from with just wanting to meet and talk mods. That is very enjoyable to just get together, not drive and just see what people have done. See what can be done, what tips and tricks, bolt on mods, and easy stuff like disabling the DRLs on a WRX. Even little things like restrictor mods, gutting intakes and so forth can be enjoyable.

Maybe the next meet can be somewhere like Liberty Park or somewhere where we can meet, talk shop/mods, and BBQ up some food. Not having to drive would be just as fun, we all know what our cars are capable of (well, Cole is learning... :)

The sad part is I can see myself doing the same thing. I get caught in the moment and I start getting on it but I know the limitations of my WRX but I think it might be hard to know the limitations of a STI because you can change the car by just ajdusting your center diff. I know cole and he is cool and I feel bad for him but I would ride with him no questions asked. Now all I need is some new tires so I can push my car even hard to try to keep up. I am way past trying to show anyone up. I brought the Mini because I thought it would be a more appropriate car to drive. I had a great time with you guys. I am really sorry to hear about the STI that is a bummer. At least the damage is minor and not a big deal. I think it would be fun to go from Kamas to Tabiona that is one amazing drive. It is all wide open corners.

I would have just like to have drooled over your ferrari. But that is just me I guess I am the only one here that like ferraris's. I wouldn't mind seeing your sti when it is done though.

Its not as bad as it looks. We took the front lip off that night and its now in the garage on jack stands!! He wont put anything off its his BABY!!! I don't understand why parents give kids sportscars. There is no reason a kid under 20 needs a 300 HP car.

Now the insurance companies see more WRX's and STi's getting into accidents, and suddenly all of our rates increase.

Well just so you know i bought that car for myself. Yes im 17 but i work my A*S off just to pay for that car BY MY SELF!!! I think my driving skills are pretty good, concidering on the 20th of july i saw a black 2.5 almost do the same thing. I guess it was just my turn to go and take one for the team.

I was not offended at all. It is hard being the new guy sometimes. I think it is a bummer what happened to your car but all of us have either spun out or put 2 wheels off road. If you havent you are not trying hard enough. So far I have been lucky and only done it at the track. As far as getting it fixed I would call Schneiders auto body they are the best in the state. If there is anything I can do to hep I would be happy to do what I can for you.

Probably say that a deer ran out and he avoided hitting it, rather than saying he was trying to keep up with my m4d tyt3 driving skills. Sorry to hear about it, but it looks like you are taking advantage of getting aftermarket replacements. Everything has a good side. For me it takes about a year before im comforatable enough with a car to get it sideways on the road. Just have fun and learn from your mistakes. We've all made them.
