Ken S 03-07-2001, 08:22 PM The Forester switched from Phase I to Phase II the same time the RS did -- in MY99. Based on what I've read, some of the late MY98 owners may have had Phase II shortblocks used in their engines. No clue on the compression ratios, however. Ken juice 03-08-2001, 02:23 PM Phase I DOHC was 1998 only. 1999 and on have Phase II SOHC engines. I think compression is 9.7 or 10 to 1, right around there. It did not change. Neither did bore or stroke. Besides the camshaft, the other significant change I remember was the redline, which was 6500 on the DOHC, and lowered to 6250 for the Phase II SOHC. I am pretty sure that the Forester was the same as the Impreza - both are made in Japan so changes happened at about the same time. Did the '99s have the same bad MAF problems as the RS? The reason you probably don't hear about Forester MAF problems is because the majority of owners don't do mods. Cool! A turboed Forester. Perhaps you can be the first in the US to have one. |
