Hey guys what's up, well while I'm saving for some big mods I was wondering if you guys could help me squeeze out some small hp numbers by doing some free mods, I have only removed the silencer, as far as free mods. Other then that, I'm open for anything. I know I've seen a few of these but don't really trust myself with pieces that are important to my car:

Throttle Body Mod
Throttle Cable Mod
Grounding Mod
Silencer Removal Mod

Feel free to add to the list. And anyone willing to HELP me with these mods or have the tools for the mods that will allow me to borrow them i wouldnt protest :) (i know the TB Mod needs some tools that I don't have and dont really wanna buy em, lol)

Hmmm, if you can give me specific instructions or just pop over sometime and help me out with it I'd be thankful, and if anyone knows about the 3/16 mod and can add some info thatd be great. TB Bypass? Not sure if that's what I'm looking for, i mean the honing out of the TB, like you know grinding down the lip so that airflow is a little better?

sorry cant help im in texas right now, u can pm AKWRX he knows all the equipment requirements for the grounding mod.
i believe it is 4gauge wire
u run one from the battery to the driverside strut tower, then one from the driverside engine ground to the battery also, and one goes from the passenger side engine ground to the passenger side strut tower, then if u want u can run a copper line across the engine from one engine ground to the other.
try scoobymods.com i think they have a post about it somewhere
but try akwrx first

wussup this 04 rex, these mod are pretty easy to do.

Throttle cable: if you notice buy pressing down on your cable that there is alot of play, bad for throttle response. just tighten enough to take the slack out not enough to change the idle.

Throttle bore: if you take off your TB. you will have the gasket for the intake manifold and TB there. use it as a guide. use a permanet marker and trace the inside of you gasket on to your intake mani. then remove and see if there is excess material or metal to grind away (dremel works wonders.) stuff rags in the intake mani. first . them grind away be carefull not to grind too much. goal is to port match your TB to your intake mani...some machine work skill required...learned in the army...

GRD MOD: if you go on line you can find some cheap for 100 bucs
but if you want to make your own just go to your local electronic store and pick up some GRD wire and connectors and wala GRDing cables for cheaper

for other mods just give me a call paul 351-8672

here's the 3/16th mod. Be sure the new connector you get doesnt have a brass reducer in it. I have heard of at least 1 dumba$$ who did this.

Hmmm this might be a nice project for the meet, what do you guys think? I can give someone 10$ or more if they need it at the meet if they can get the materials ahead of time and when we get there just have anyone that knows how like either show me or help me out with it.

The 3/16th mod takes but just a few secs. I've got an extra one you can have. I bought a packet of 2 for like $2.88. I don't think I'll be able to make sunday's meet due to moving houses.:furious: P.M. me and you can come pick it up.

also with my car it tried to correct the 3/16 mod. so after about 2 weeks I started to get crazy boost spikes in 4th and bad spikes when I went wot below 4k rpm. Generally started to run like ****e.

Hey, thanks for the help EMS :) It seemed a lot smoother of a ride after finally resetting my ecu and adding in that lil thing. Anyway, I was wondering if someone would be willing to at least go with me to buy the right materials for grounding mod and TB honing mod.

I just tried the 3/16 mod in our bone stock WRX today. I couldn't tell much difference at all. I didn't test for full acceleration into the higher end of the band, just pick up. Unfortuneatly, it didnt seem to build up bost any faster when running around 3k rpm. If anything, I thought it was a tad quicker and more precise for RPM matching when shifting, and maybe a little better for modulating speed with the pedal at high RPM, but I've never really pumped the pedal like that before, so I can't say. The biggest difference that was noticed was that it made the exaust note louder. Grandma pointed it out when I was finished testing since she was standing on the porch when I pulled up the driveway. It sounded pretty bad ass actualy, but grandma didn't like it, so I took it out. The exaust sound was back to normal as soon as I switched back to stock, so I discount my first thoughts of hotter cats or an andreniline happy ECU. The louder exaust didn't sound different, just louder. Normaly it's a nice deep pur, without being what I'd call throaty, but it's pretty quiet so you can hear the engin itself from the other end of the car, but with the 3/16 coupler I couldn't hear the engine, just the pipe. It was nice, but I can see why grandma was concerned.

I think next I'll check out the engine bay grounds with a volt meter and considder recomending the grounding fix. I don't want to try of bunch of free tweeks that don't work though, or I'll never sell her on anything real, like an ECU upgrade or an up pipe. (The apparent two first steps for reducing turbo lag and getting that extra little push.)

john you already have the grounding mod and the 3/16 mod, where your grounds are they are fine. the tb mod i wouldnt recomend simply becuz if you screw up then you have to buy an expensive throttle body, that and i heard it doesnt really help. the throttle cables i would leave alone aswell just becuz i wouldnt screw with them but hey its your car. and the 3/16 mod wont work on your car anymore becuz of the boost controller, there is no place to put it in the boost hoses to make it work and besides wit would just restrict it. hope this helps:D but now that i look thuis post was done like a month ago so...........so you already have these things hahahaha.
