just like it says...

if you have a tubo 2.5RS and have had any problems please post them here...

also... please include which kit you have or had and at what psi where you at when you had the problem.

thanks in advance for any feed back...

I'll start!

Ok I'm getting ready to instal my kit. I have the oil drain going to the oil pan but any ideas or suggestion on where to feed it from? A local guy had one on his impreza at one point but there wasn't any oil going through the turbine, needless to say I think his turbine started to go bad... I want to make sure I don't have his problem :)

If you have a pic of where it should go let me know please.

also about the crank case ventilator is it ok to vent those to atmosphere if I put like a breather filter on there or should I have it head back to the intake in which case should I but them before or after the turbine. My original assumption would be to let them vent to atmosphere due to the increased pressure in a turbo charged system. Am I correct?

I had Rallispec do a custom kit for me.
I've had absolutely no problems with the turbo itself, the car runs strong and fast...
a sign of how good their works is...

but there is a problem that many people might know about already...

The Supra TT fuel pump that I needed to upgrade too with the turbo has a problem sucking up fuel at low levels while your flying fast around turns. End result is that you cant really autoX with your fuel light on.

I can however drag race with no fuel cut problems whatsoever! :D

That's a very open ended question. Further, there's been countless threads around problems that have come about when people have turbocharged their RS. Most have been problems with: transmissions, oil lines, boost control.

I have a fairly lengthy journal on my website regarding the history of my turbocharged RS.

I have a one off custom kit running 7psi. intercooled. Broke piston #1. Very rare. If it goes it's usually #3. No signs of rich or lean conditions. It was diagnosed as a casting flaw on that piston. :( Car's in the shop getting rebuilt with forged pistons, billet rods and some street cams. :D

No real Big problems except a couple of small things....My connection from the turbo to the intercooler hits my AC line back against the firewall wearing it thin...and the other problem is that I have a small oil leak from the oil pan...I put double the gasket material on the pan to avoid this problem but she sprang a leak(toward the back of the oil pan) anyways...Other than that...No problems..Stock clutch didn't last to long either but that was expected..Hope it helps..Other than that..I LOVE BOOST.. :D

STiTuner -- check these out it shows you where the oil pick up is to feed the turbo:

And which kit are you running by the way...

Here's something that's a bit off-topic, but relevant:

Whenever you dump a bunch of hardware under the hood, you're introducing dozens of opportunities for metal-to-metal contact. Also, bolting components together and hanging them from various mountings can cause resonances in the engine compartment.

My custom, Minnam-based turbo setup had several vibration noises at first, which we're slowly finding and fixing. My mechanic fabricated a cool heat shield for the turbine which works great, except it was vibrating at certain RPMs initially.

I still have a strange metal-to-metal vibration at middle RPMs when the car isn't warmed up. When I drive it hard for a while, it stops--almost like two parts that touch when cool, but move apart as they expand.

Be on the lookout for little things like that when you do the install. I assume a production, tested kit will have most interference problems worked out, but every installation is "custom" to some degree.

With proper engine management, (read as a Motec/TEC 2/Wolf 3d/Haltech ECU) you take the MAF out entirely and run a MAP.

With bigger injectors, a better fuel rail and management, the stock bottom end can take about 14PSI reliably.

If you limit yourself to widgets like SAFC, FCD and so forth, you shouldn't go over 10PSI if you want to keep the engine happy for a daily driven application.

Rubasu:
Its a custom kit. Its got an HKS modified turbo off of a STi WRX. HKS modified the pitch angle of the blades to make sure it would get good spool time but not over boost. and a tial wastegate set to .5 bar.. I think I should lower that till I get my intercooler in. no IC was included but hey I only paid like 1400 for the kit, it included all the manifolds (bye bye cats!) and piping and gauges, and turbine and wastegate of course.

This kit was made for a 99 and I have an 01 does anyone know of any problems I would have with fitting it? If I recall they have the same phase engines. I just have to fix the MAP problem.

Does anyone know how to change the wastegate setting (I want like .3/.4 bar to start with) with out a boost controler?
