andyC 07-25-2003, 11:47 AM Hey - I would definetly be up for some riding later in the summer!
That place looks like fuN!!
tartay 07-25-2003, 12:06 PM speaking of mountain bikes, is it possible to get a good one for about 1300? I have been wanting to get one for awhile so I can get back into riding. I used to ride about 2 years ago, I mostly raced bmx bikes. Ive been outta the scene too damn long.

yeah, you can get a good one for $1300... a few years back I got a Schwinn Moab 1 w/ disc brakes for about $1k... weighs about 25lbs or so. :)
Are you looking for a full suspension or hardtail bike?
Girl - do you guys have bike racks on your cars? I don't yet so it's a tight fit in the backseat... w/ the front wheel off even.
tartay 07-25-2003, 01:08 PM probably hardtail, cuz im not gonna be like hardcore trail riding or anything, i'll still ride on teh street and stuff
OneManArmy 07-25-2003, 01:13 PM you can get a pretty decent bike for about that. Hard tail for sure....FS you are pushing it.
What I would do is go to the classifieds on www.mtbr.com and www.pinkbike.com
great bikes and great deals...get something that has been lightly used.
As for the riding.....email me any time you guys/gals head out. Please!!!!
I am from santa cruz and quit riding after an accident and having my bike stolen...but I bought a new bike last year and only got one ride and a couple of dj sessions in because I don't know anyone that rides any more except one guy and he moved to Ripon.
My fat butt could use the excercise and I would love to hit some good dj's and drops.
I ride an azonic Ds-1. 2000 Jr.T and your basic midrange free ride components. Good hard tail.
So please email me.....I will have my wrx wagon here in the next week and I already have a rack...can hold two bikes with disc brakes. Well mine and one other.

just noticed you are from livermore...there used to be some sick dj's out there. A friend of mine was sponsored by Boss back in the day...early 90's....the whole team brought out heavy equipment and we built a huge track out there...>I think apartments covered it up after I moved to Santa Cruz.
If you want pointers on hard tails I am your man. Just let me know what you want it for, how big you are...stuff like that.
But I would for sure hit up those two sites I listed up above.
If you can find one a Santa Cruz Cameleon would be great. Sinister Ridge. Azonic Evolution. Hit me up anytime or just go to pinkbike.com....same name over on that site.
Boss? Was his name Chris? There were some guys filming for spectacle II out at Shells last weekend, a guy named chris was on a blue boss chromo, pretty sweet.
As for hardtails there are plenty to choose from, they are pretty much all cheap for the frames. You can find good used parts if your on a budget. If you need help building it let me know. The Chameleon is good choice, especially the 04 models. Or if you want a cheap complete bike that performs well i'd suggest going with a specialized p1 or p2.
Here's a couple of other sites you can try:
www.ridemonkey.com
www.hcor.net
www.msdhw.com
www.icepeeps.com

OneManArmy 07-25-2003, 01:31 PM to tell you the truth I haven't talked to the guy since I moved.....or was forced to move to santa cruz. His name was either jeremy or chris....can't remember.
But that doesn't look like him...the guy would be around 26 now.
I broke one of his boss frames back in the day in livermore trying to clear this huge triple.
OneManArmy 07-25-2003, 01:33 PM I just noticed you had ridemonkey on your list. I have an account there...haven't been in ages....same name.
You can find me on most any site...same name or something similar.

I want the bike for some trail riding, dirt jumps and stuff...one that can handle some pretty hard falls, cuz i know im bound to eat **** pretty hard since i havent' ridden in two years. lol. Im 5'11, 170...medium sized guy i guess you could say lol
tartay 07-25-2003, 01:48 PM oh yeah about the boss sponsored dude...i knew a few out here, ive been outta the scene for awhile tho so i don't really know who's still around, there are two tracks here in livermore, and there used to be some sick ass trails/jumps at this creek in town but the plowed em down. And across town theres some pretty nice jumps, a lot of ppl use em to jump their 50s.
OneManArmy 07-25-2003, 01:55 PM then all of those frames I mentioned above are right up your allie.
A weigh 235 and my Azonic DS-1 has given me no problems yet.......but the evolution is a better frame.
The cameleon is great because you can run SS very easily on it and it's built with exactly what you have listed.....single track...dj's.....etc.
My pick would be the sinister ridge though. That is one impressive frame. Probably my next frame.
If you are like me and like small bikes then you can go with a .243 racing. A Cove Stiffee SL or a 24 bikes Le Toy III.
Price range I would go used.....maybe somethign like this.

or this if you are more into jumping and street session....single speed/easily converted
http://marketplace.consumerreview.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.pl?db=MtbReview&website=MtbReview&language=&session_key=&search_and_display_db_button=on&results_format=long&db_id=55347&query=retrieval
or you can buy my bike and I will buy that le toy or a snipes elemental off pinkbike I say for $1500canadian....ha..
We should hit up the livermore jumps sometime.
BTW, also check out www.unrealcycles.com if your looking for a hardtail. While your there you can also check out the bike gallery to give you an idea of what you want.
peace

OneManArmy 07-25-2003, 06:07 PM I am down...I will keep looking on here to see when future sessions are gonna be. I can probably do it in about 3 weeks.
this weekend I might go check out my probably wrx wagon. If not then I buy one mid week and have some stuff to do next weekend......so anyways.
Unreal has some cool stuff. There are some great bike shops in livermore as well. Down town next to the flag pole...been a while since I lived over there but there was Cals and one other one that had some good stuff......
also pacquets in pleasanton but I have no clue if it's still open but they carried cannondale, specialized and some custom stuff.....I bought my first MTB there.
