According to TXS, with the Utec in stage 1 you should be able to produce 16.1psi of boost @4000rpm; 15psi @5500rpm; 12.5psi @6000rpm and 12 psi @7000rpm. I currently only max out at 15 psi of boost somewhere in the 4000 - 5000 rpm range. I have my ABC turned out 3 times and have not modified my stage 1 boost map, nor would I really know how to because I am totally new to tuning. Does anyone have a boost map that produces these boost numbers that they wouldn't mind sharing?
Thanks.

I wouldn't turn the ABC out more than 2-3 turns IMO, jut start moddin gyour boost map whether it is in closed loop or open loop it doesnt matter same principle.
Just keep raising the numbers in the 90-100% columns just before and at the rpms you want a higher boost level at and see if it works(it should).
Don't forget that the 0-100% columns in the boost map is TPS not MAP pressure like in the other maps.
You can adjust the boost gain in the parameters section. The lower the number the quicker the FBC responds but the increases likelyhood of a boost spike, and the higher the number the slower it responds but it is less likely to spike. Default it is at 50 IIRC, I have mine set to 48.

c dust- you should really challenge yourself to hook up your pc to modify the boost. its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. im running st1 too with only silencer removed and blitz catback with modified boost. ABC is ccw 3 turns (running open loop). its fast enough for me on the streets.
the only hard part i had was when my hyperterminal baud rate at 19200 did not match up to my pc (cause my pc's a piece of crap IBM dinkpad) and would keep locking up due to what it seemed the serial port's limitations. im not a computer head but fortunately my wife is and she fixed up the settings for me.
my hyperterminal only works when i start the pc first, then turn on the car.
im not a tuner myself and will not pertend to be but i managed to get the correct boost pressures and boy is it a different animal compared to just playing with the ABC.

So should I only touch the numbers in the 90% - 100% columns? If I try to modify the columns before what will happen. What would a number of 75 entered into a column represent as far as boost psi is concerned? Also, what is the difference between open and closed loop boost?
Thanks

RTFM RTFM RTFM RTFM!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no corelation other than bigger equals more... you should read your manaul about 20 times then give it a try.. check wrxhackers.com for more information specifically about tuning the utec..
and yes you will want to modify more than just the 90&100 columns to get the best results.

You shouldn't assume that just becuase I am asking a question I didn't read the manual or try to figure it out on my own. I have read the manual multiple times, but oviously I am still unclear about the topic and thats why I am asking a question. This is a forum; people as questions and then other people answer them. Its not a hard concept to grasp.

Hey, I only said the 90-100% columns because when you go WOT, you will be in the 100% column so it has the largest impact on the peak boost attained IMO. (unless you didn't calibrate your TPS).
But if you **** with the boost gain, and the lower percent columns in the boost map you will get a faster spool up and better responsivness.

when you say this:
What would a number of 75 entered into a column represent as far as boost psi is concerned
It implies you can't read the fing manual because word for word in there it will tell you that these numbers do not directly correlate to a given boost... it will also explain to you that you are varying the duty cycle of the bcs to control boost.
From your questions it appeared you did not read the manual or did not understand what you read... this generaly means you need to RTFM.
Oh and before you get high and mighty about how this is a place for people to answer questions the reason it is a good place is because people who know more than you are willing to devote there time.. these people get annoyed w/ questions that are answered in a manual or asked a million times and can be found in a simple search.. thus if you keep them up these people adventually leave the forum and thus it is of no use to people w/ worthwhile questions.
Sorry if I come off as an ass in all of this but its obvious you didn't/don't know what you were/are doing so I made a suggestion i felt would help you. Next time I'll remember not too...

c dust- i know it can get pretty confusing at first, so hang in there!
you should first run datalogger on 3rd or 4th gear at wot to see where you are. i know 4000rpm in 4th will take you over the speed limit, so you can use 3rd and boost up to 15psi. usually if your boost map is smooth, 15psi in 3rd is about 16psi in 4th.
on your boost map, just edit the duty cycles you see for the 70% and above TPS settings. you'll probably want to leave the lower RPM as is and increase the mid rpm boost value by 4-5 on all. dont worry about the fuel and timing for now unless you are seeing lean conditions or getting a flashing cel. run it again on datalogger and see where you are. adjust as needed. if you're seeing 14.7-15.1psi in 3rd, take it on a on-ramp on the expressway to see where you are at with 4000rpm in 4th. if you hit 15.9-16.2, you are dead on.
just becareful and pay attention to the road, not the screen. :) you should let a friend help and monitor the datalogger. after you get the boost right and you still want more, adjust the timing parameters too. i just left it as is.

Thanks a lot kenchan for the advise, that really makes sense to me know. I'll give that a try.
Responces like this make this wolrd a better place to live in
