is it possible, or has anyone swapped a Forester Turbo Engine into a GC8 :confused:

Since it just came out, we would have to say: not likely.

I don't see how it would be much different than a wrx swap.

It will be slightly different. You have to do the pedal assembly in order to utilize the electronic throttle, and perhaps something might not be compatible with the dash boards... That and you should go with the XT ECU for sure to control the AVCS properly.

the pedle question is up in the air till some one tries it .. but i don't think that it is an issue .. the brake and clutch pedel box changed with the new gen impreza but i assume the gas pedle is seperate

One little thing that hadn't occured to me. The pedal box DID change in the GG/GD chassis (which is what the Forester XT is based on) and it does NOT properly bolt into the GC/GF chassis. The lower four bolts will go in ok, however, the holes for the upper mount are in a different place vertically as well as horizontally. This prevents the pedal assembly from seating down properly and also prevents the clutch master cylinder from seating down properly on the firewall.

Chances are, it is just the accelerator pedal that is going to be the problem. It mounts seperately from the brake/clutch pedal and _should_ bolt in without a problem.

heard that the engine itself is set up a bit differently so it sits too high or something in an rs bay... but never confirmed it... came from a semi reliable source ;)

or the cross member coudl be differnt

but a subaru block is a subaru block all the same exterior demensions

I would love to do this swap if it is feasible. I am not very experienced with this and I have been searching everywhere to find out what kind of problems there would be to put the 2.5XT into my 2000 RS body. What exactly would need to be done to make it fit and function assuming the forester xt ecu is used? Can this pedal assembly discrepancy be explained any more simply so I can understand it better, possibly?
