I just replaced the stock RE070s with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups that I'm going to use both for summer 'street' driving and track weekends. My ?'s:
What would be the best air pressures F/R for street use? (I know the OEM stock recommendation is 36F/30R for the RE070's, but the max cold pressure recommended by Michelin for this tyre is 35 psi).
Best track pressures F/R?
If anyone has experience with the Cups on a WRX and can give advice I'd appreciate it.
TIA

the amin thing to remenber for the sport cup is that you are trying to achieve 38-40 psi hot ... adjust accordingly

Luke thanks for the reponse.
I had the STi at the track this weekend and had 30F/28R pressures cold. After my first session, the pressures were 38F/32R. I then reduced the pressures by 1 psi all round. Hot pressures remained as above for the fronts, but the rears came up to 35 psi. Unfortunately, I severly degarded my new Cups on the front which I had just purchased from you guys. Now the middle two ribs of the front Cups are extremely worn, and there is a pronounced outer groove where the outer rib hasn't worn, but the middle rib next to it has worn very much.
What are your thoughts on the above? It almost seems that I still had too much pressure in the fronts for the middle two tread blocks to wear so badly. Is that correct?
Would this have not happened if I'd had the tyres 'Heat Cycled'?
Is it mandatory to have the Cups shaved to 4/32 prior to track use? (I was hoping not so that I could drive them on the street also in the summer, and them still be marginal for the occasional shower).

while heat cycling is not mandatory any tire ( r-compound or not ) experiences and extreme heat spike when first put through the paces .... this heat spike only occurs the first time a tire is tracked (which could explain your wear issues... maybe)... without a proper heat cycling this 'spike' is much higher and takes alot longer to subside. After thet the tire will perform normally .... What size wheels and tires are you using ???

225/45-17 on the stock BBS rims.
BTW, the ambient air temp this past weekend at the track was 103F with track temps. of 126F!
