View Full Version : attn Turbo'd RS'
Subie Gal 06-14-2001, 07:56 AM hey all...
if i had fabricated, or got my hands on, a "TURBO RS" or nice "TURBO" badge for the car, would anyone be interested?
price/cost no more than $30....???
i can look into this (already am) but wanted to put a feeler out and see what/who was interested, and if it was worth my time...
thanks all.

Jon Bogert 06-14-2001, 08:18 AM First in line!
Edit: Now that I actually read your post, I guess your looking to do a separate add-on badge, instead of a direct replacement for the current Impreza 2.5 RS badge. If this is the case, please keep the styling subtle and as OEM looking as possible.

SubyPrez20 06-14-2001, 08:25 AM I just want an Outback badge for my wrx :)
RyanC 06-14-2001, 08:49 AM I'd buy one. I've been toying with the idea of debadging the factory stuff and picking up a the script-style turbo badge from a 911 C2 Turbo, but something similar to the font used on the 'Subaru' letters on the back would look great.
Aphex 06-14-2001, 09:01 AM I've been thinking about that too, but instead of Turbo RS or something similar, it would be nice to have a badge the same as the current 2.5RS on the trunk, but instead it would be
2.5RST or 2.5RS-T something subtle like that.

Jon Bogert 06-14-2001, 09:14 AM All I really want is a little decal like this:
http://www.rallystuff.com/images/awd.jpg
that says "TURBO" in the same font to put under the left taillight. Looked everywhere and can't find the font.
Subie Gal 06-14-2001, 09:30 AM little decal i can do...
i have found the decal from the UK... the ones used on the UK spec Turbo...
they do not have a badge, it's just a decal... and i am sure i can get a hold of a few of them... or have them replicated...
would that be preferred?

Charge 06-14-2001, 09:36 AM Does this mean Subie Gal's going turbo?
Jon Bogert 06-14-2001, 09:39 AM Jamie, post a pic.
RyanC 06-14-2001, 09:52 AM Ooh ooh, Mr Kotter, Mr Kotter! I like that idea even better! My new preference (liable to change at any time heheh) is the sticker to match the AWD.
Subie Gal 06-14-2001, 10:00 AM as soon as i have a pic, i'll post one!
yes... i think this can be done to 'match' the AWD logo...

Does this mean Subie Gal's going turbo?

Rubasu 06-14-2001, 11:56 AM How about one that says "RS-Type T" :p

Rich L 06-14-2001, 02:41 PM I would definately be interested in something like that. A small but bright badge(or sticker) in an aggressive color like red.
I cant really see me paying more than $25 for a badge or sticker unless the quality was VERY good.
Come up with something that scares other ppl and I'll buy it! ;)
personally, not interested. i prefer it when people figure it out the hard way :D
skywalker 06-14-2001, 05:55 PM I think the "2.5RS-T" is the best bet. I would love to get that for my wing instead of the standard. Same colors would be awesome too. Keep looking close to the same thing as possible then everyone will think you have a really rare model. :D
Andre Vandenberg 06-14-2001, 06:06 PM Mark me present as well :D :D
KEVINL 06-14-2001, 06:38 PM Another vote for RS-T.
DaveK 06-14-2001, 10:17 PM RS-T
I looked into getting a badge from the TS, but it was one piece like the RS ones, so I'd go for the sticker that matches the AWD.
Andrew 06-14-2001, 10:31 PM i like the idea and ill need to see pics before i buy.
but im kinda with M8. I like to let them know with my BOV :)
Aphex 06-15-2001, 01:33 AM ewww, no "Type" anythings, heh heh
I'm not much of a fan of a sticker that says "turbo" I like the more subtle 2.5RS badging that says 2.5RS-T , since then it's not really shouting from the top of your lungs "HEY I HAVE A TURBO, PLEASE RACE ME AT EVERY STOP LIGHT" since I really hate being bothered when I'm at a light (just a touch of paranoia).
yes I know we have the type-RA and the such in japan, but nobody here besides us knows about them, so they'll think we're trying to rip off "honda style" with their "type" badging.
[edit] Just had another thought, .... well I did about 5 seconds ago......
oh, maybe I can just buy an outback badge and rip the T out of it, but I'll be damned if I remember what the outback badge looks like and if it'd even look right. hmmmmmm.

yebokmj 06-15-2001, 05:22 AM I would like RS-T I think it's a little more low profile. I would also like for it to replace the stock badge in full. Deffinatly not Turbo like the AWD. I removed the AWD from my car because I didn't like it.

peepshow 06-15-2001, 10:00 AM C'mon, you guys. You KNOW Jamie is holding out for the rumored turbo Legacy! She is still a Leggy owner at heart, I think! ;)
HRE | giulio 06-15-2001, 10:34 AM i would suggest a subtle chrome sticker in the same font as "impreza" on the rear badge: http://www.universeg.com/impreza/gallery/full/010611_rear.jpg
The font is "Microgramma".
AdidasCU 06-15-2001, 10:51 AM Just a thought for thost of you looking for "-T" logos. You could snatch one off of a VW (the T part) and paint it red. There might even be a company making red T's for the veedubs. I am not sure, but I have seen pics of some red T's on VW's and thought they looked good. check out www.vwvortex.com (http://www.vwvortex.com) and ask around. I am sure somone will be willing to help out or give away their badge off a 1.8T or tell ya where to get em.
Sorry so long

Subie Gal 06-15-2001, 11:03 AM ok so maybe i can come up w/2 different products...
"TURBO" subtle sticker...
and an 2.5RS-T badge....
those seem to be the most popular so far..
i'll keep ya posted...

Aphex 06-29-2001, 04:31 PM anything in the works subie gal?

Jon [in CT] 06-29-2001, 07:36 PM Um, why hasn't this thread been relegated to the Dress-Up & Style forum? I thought the Turbo Powertrain forum was reserved for: "Technical questions, comments, or gripes about any TURBO CHARGED Subaru."
mcu81 06-29-2001, 08:09 PM 2.5RS-T would be the shiznut. Make the 2.5 rs in the regular red color and the t in an agressive color like yellow or something...ill buy one even thou im n/a hehe! :) well for the moment n/a!
ImprezaRS dot com 07-01-2001, 04:57 PM I kinda like the idea of "Type-T" in raised cut out metal like the stock 2.5RS badge, but...
When I wasn't paying attention, Kevin at JC Sports snuck a "Turbocharged by JC Sports" sticker on the opposite side of the "AWD" sticker in the same typeface as the AWD sticker.
Larry
Jon Bogert 07-01-2001, 05:49 PM in the same typeface as the AWD sticker.
Got a pic?
ImprezaRS dot com 07-02-2001, 02:46 AM I get a photo tomorrow for you.
Larry
RallyNavvie 07-02-2001, 10:15 AM I'm all for an RS-T badge. I still don't have any stickers or dress-up on my car and I'm actually going to leave it that way as much as possible. It already looks like a drug-runners car
So count me in for something subtle. The turbo graphic off the UK turbos wouldn't be such a bad addition either, but then everyone that pulls up next to you with their minute-rice will see that sticker and want to race. There's nothing more obnoxious than hearing one of those things go all the way to the rev-limiter.
:p

Kevin Thomas 07-03-2001, 07:43 AM Darn it Jamie! Now you decide to come out with this. :D I could've used the turbo badge years ago. *sniffle* Now I'm sad! I'm going to cry now. :(
While, not exactly adhearing to the "subtle" theme, very cool nonetheless if that is what you were after. I believe these were done by JaiMak with the help of NickCat last year. Don't know if they were ever made.
Edit: Sorry, pictures are gone at the moment.
FuJi K 07-04-2001, 09:21 AM i like that RST wrx design better!!!!!! man does that looks sweet. but...........i have decided to get a WRX instead of the 25B(2.5RS)
FuJi K
Jon Bogert 08-20-2001, 11:22 AM Here's another option: splice this onto the 2.5RS badge.

Any progress, Subie Gal???
Andrew 08-20-2001, 02:48 PM all i see is 2 Red X's Shik.
Jewbaru 08-20-2001, 05:06 PM Andrew, imagine the WRX logos that are on the old GC8 WRXs in Japan. The ones on the rear, and infront of the rear wheel arch. Now, replace the WRX with RST, and that's what they are.
Andrew 08-20-2001, 06:38 PM sounds cool but i would still like to see it.
Jewbaru 08-20-2001, 06:55 PM hows this? Just imagine the RST in it's place.
Andrew 08-20-2001, 06:59 PM looks cool but i dont think that teal color would look good on a BRP car. how about putting it in red like the stock RS?
SubaFastR 08-20-2001, 11:29 PM I would like to have an aluminum T made to tack on the end of my 2.5rs badge, and a kevin sandwich.
