Hello again all

I posted this on the tech page and no one helped me out, so I'll try the same question here.

As long as I built Musclecars, auto's were the way to go. Stronger, more consistent, and just plian easier to maintain. Are there any super auto's to be had for our little rocket?

Thanks for any and all help

Talk to Level-10. http://www.levelten.com/

These guys do just about anything involving automatic transmissions. I spoke with one of their techs once, and he said they do work with Subaru's, or just about anything else out there.

RSRacer,
Thanks man! I don't know why I never thought about Art Carr. Geez, he's only an hours drive from me. And to make it worse, he has even built transmissions for me before.

Cool, super cool... make the trans bulletproof , and hello turbo!!

Oh, and talk to Pat Barrett (at Level 10) about the "sportshift" for the RS. They have developed a nifty little electronic device for auto trans owners. It is actually being used in a real Impreza rally car! He'll tell you more about that.

Has anyone here gotten a Level 10 tranny upgrade done yet? I talked to Pat at the NIRA event this past weekend and I am all for it now.

The shop is in Hamburg, NJ. That's 3.5hrs away from me. *gasp* I had an appointment today but I didn't realize it was that darn far. If anyone has had this upgrade yet, please feel free to email me. I want all the juicy details.

BTW: Not only Pat but a couple of other people I have talked to says the tranny upgrade can take 8/10ths to a whole second off of your 1/4 mile time. My torque converter is on the 'outs' and I still am managing 15.3's on a cool day, with a best of 15.0. Being overly optimistic, I can expect somewhere in the high 13's if all is what I hope it is.

I'll report to all 'IF' I manage to drive up there and get it done. I'll be lucky to even make it that far with the condition of my torque converter *sigh*

Oh an yes, my torque converter (I believe) is going bad. It shifts horribly between 2nd and 3rd. It's way past due anyway.

Just out of curiosity, do you drive a 2.5RS? What year? Even the oldest year 2.5RS, 1998, should not have a failing torque converter yet, that is warranty work to fix. However, if you have an older Subaru, then maybe you aren't covered under warranty.

Also out of curiosity, how much is Pat charging to work with your tranny? What does he say he is doing to take a second off your 1/4 time? Sounds to me like that could cost quite a bit, especially with the Subaru markup that seems to effect just about everything (including labor!) for our cars...
