S-Squared has a 91 turbo legacy that I purchased from texas. I purcahsed a huge pile of parts from 1stsubaruparts, I plan to replace all the wear items and have the engine in top shape before installation. I will also have slight head work done.

My planned route includes
3 inch turbo back with resonator, muffler, twin dump DP and high flow cat. Wrx 4-2-1 equal length headers.
Electronic fuel and boost management
Custom air to water intercooler setup
4 channel EGT, dedicated 02 sensor for A/F, boost and vacuum gauges

So far everyone has been surprised that Im planning to stay with my current drivetrain, 94 jdm legacy lsd converted to 4.11 gearing and 95 impreza automatic transmission.

If it wasnt for the bad luck that s-squared had recently I might already be driving it. I cant wait!

To go along with the swap, though not directly related I have some THIRTEEN POUND 16x7 wheels with 215 45 falkens mounted

I was joking around, there is no such thing as a 90 turbo legacy! That is until mine is completed.

Sounds like a great project. Can't wait to see it completed. Take some photos if possible. :)

Yes, the turbo Legacies were available from '91 to '94 only.

1991 was the only year to get LSD too! Super rare. Only thing more rare is a 1991 5 speed turbo sedan with LSD

I have one:D Found it abandoned in some woods. To add to the Legacy Turbo info, like said they were made from 91-94, sedans were available from 91-94 and the turbo wagon was available from 92-94. Wagons were all automatics.

actualy there are tons of 90 legacy turbos. Just none in the US. Japan got MY90 legacy turbos. In the US in 1990 you could only get a loyale turbo sedan.

I thought that the lsd was available as an option on later models (post my91). I was told when I first started looking that if it was a lsd, that it would be stamped with those letters on the diff. I know my 94 legacy ss doesnt have one, but i thought that some other legacy ss lover might have one bolted up stock...any thoughts?

if the part number ends in 131 - you have LSD. :D
151 - sorry, open diff :(

cases are the same for both... so swaps are easy.

You're right, there were no US Model Legacy Turbos in 1990, the the first Legacy turbos were introduced in Japan in 1989, The US Model, an EJ22T was only available between 1991 and 1994. The rear diffs were VLSDs, 3.90 ratio.

That car will be sweet when it's done, sounds like it will be a good setup...:)
Post pics when you get it together.

I have one of the few 5 speed '91 Turbos also, that LSD diff will be finding it's new home in my '93 Turbo rally car soon...;)
