Does the EJ22T use hydraulic lifters or mechanical? I'm looking at modifying my EG33 which uses hydraulic lifters and want to know what I might be able to easily adapt to work.

Yes, it does use hydrolic units and new units are 17$ each from 1stsubaruparts

I'm actually looking to convert to mechanical lifters and a light weight retainer, higher spring force valvetrain to get some more revs out of the beast. I was hoping the EJ22T was mechanical. I've got some dimensions on WRX stuff and I'll play with those numbers and my extra EG33 this weekend.

Its possible, the ej22 and ej25 became mechanical later in years. Im pretty sure that the NA EJ22 hydros and the Turbo EJ22 are the same.
