View Full Version : legacy Turbo Front Mount
04.STI 09-23-2003, 04:23 PM Hey guys,
I have a 94 white legacy turbo and i want to build it for rally x's. I just finished taking the engine out and putting new STI transmission and engine mounts and have done a few mods to the engine, Now there is one problem I have a front mount Intercooler but I have no piping. Does any one know where i could get the piping from besides doing it myself?
Thanks,
PT:confused:
Mgardenier 09-24-2003, 12:33 PM ahhhh, you will never find piping for that, you should just send it to me, i can find a good home for it...(yea on my 94 legacy ss). just so i know, what fmic did you go with?
MY99 2.5GT 09-24-2003, 03:58 PM Honestly I don't think you will find piping anywhere.
You could take it to a local shop or order mandrel bends from JC Whitney and piece it together yourself.
Must be a small FMIC for to fit in the legacy grill.

8Complex 09-24-2003, 06:32 PM I know that MRT sells front mount kits for it, but getting it to fit exactly would be pretty tough. You'll either have to have someone custom fabricate it, or do it yourself.
04.STI 09-24-2003, 08:25 PM Thanks guys for your advice the FMIC is not relle that small. I've been thinking that the WRX piping should fit! Greddy makes kits though they dont sell just the piping maybe i'll get lucky and find piping on ebay or maybe buy a used Kit, What do you guys think!!
PT;)
subiekid 09-24-2003, 10:06 PM muffler shops should be able to do custom piping for about 200-300. that compared to the price of getting an mrt kit from auzi land is a steel.
legacyej22 09-25-2003, 02:04 AM You can try making your own piping, go to this site, its a little ghetto, but it works! http://www.geocities.com/serban91r/turbo/turbofmic.htm
I know its for a nissan, but you can apply that to pretty much any car!

04.STI 09-25-2003, 09:19 PM Yea this is an idea but How is this supposed to keep up your boost? air does get trough sum how sumwhere there is a leak!
imprezausa 09-25-2003, 11:44 PM I’m also interesting in custom piping. Any body knows good shop which can make them????
subiekid 09-25-2003, 11:57 PM most local muffler shops that cna do mandrel bends can do it for ya. you will have to get the silicon elbows and conectors but they can do the rest.
this place is the best for silicon
http://www.bakerprecision.com/silicone.htm
if you need elbows get them here, if you need a long section that you can cut to make conectors check ebay. they usually sell like a 2 or 3 foot length for like 30 -40 bucks.

What did you do with your old tranny? Was it a manual? If so... I might be interested in taking that off your hands....
ciper 09-26-2003, 05:58 PM Check this out
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=2434086151
Something similar would be thin enough to fit, just have to figure out where to run the piping

he didnt swap trany, just sti motor mounts and trany mounts, i thought the same thing as you but had to read it again.
do you guys thing an intercooler that is painted black would work as well as one that is not painted at all? i dont want to have a nice aluminum look onthe front of the car, it gives away the sleeper look.
04.STI 09-27-2003, 11:17 AM Hey guys, I never changed the tranny I only changed the Mounts... WOuld anyone be interested in buying a 91 Red Legacy turbo with sti Engine and Tranny Mounts? and a few other mods
