I don't understand - that is like saying I want new rims but I want to keep using the ones that came with the car??

Also where would you put this second stereo?

I think what he's asking is "can I add a 6 disk changer and still use the stock head unit?". Well the answer is "It depends". You can take the signal out of the head unit as an input to an amp, and have another input from a changer and make it work. It may not be easy, but it can be done. It is much easier to start with a system made to do this. Something like what Bose did in an S4 that I had with an in dash am/fm/single CD and then it also had the controls for the trunk mounted multi-disk changer. It was probably the best set up system I've ever used. If I wanted to just switch the CD then and there, I could pop it in the dash unit. If not, and just wanted to go through my 6 in the trunk, had the controls right there.

I've done a previous sterio install on another car where everything was run from a remote. I bought a radio box to go along with a Sony 10 disk changer. Although the stock head unit still worked, it was worth an extra $150 to me to just add the radio unit and keep the entire high end system completely hidden. My goal was that if someone broke into the car, the most they would see (and thus steel) would be a cheap factory in-dash radio.

If you really want to keep your stock head unit, check with an independent auto sterio store. They'll tell you what you need and how much it'll cost. Back when I did mine, there wasn't anything really available without me doing a lot of engineering.

Correct me if I am wrong (or maybe Saladin has a different setup than stock) but the WRX stereo is a double din unit comprised of cd changer/cassette/radio. It would be impossible to isolate just the cd changer and use another head unit. You would need to remove the whole headunit and replace it with another headunit and some other type of changer (trunk or dash)

you sell your 6 disk indash to me, for an absudly cheap price, while I give you my clarion setup with tape and CD, and you get a 6 disk cd changer in your trunk! Thats how you do it!
