When the time comes for an intercooler, where in the hell will I stuff it?

I can't go behind the bumper because that's where my radiator is.

Is a top-mount the ONLY option on a 95?

What do you think?

If I go top-mount, I'll need a hood scoop.

Question arises, can I order a scoop and simply bolt it in, or will I have to buy a new hood?

What kinda hood will I have to buy that'll clear a TMIC?

What are you TMIC equiped legacies running?

Is there ANYWAY to get a FMIC on my 95?

Thanks!

here are some pics of my car, there is no room for a top mount unless you go with air/water or get an older (smaller) wrx ic.

i got a jdm manifold that would alow me to install a usdm wrx ic, but i decided to get a front mount, but now i am thinking water cooling again.

air/water cooling would be easier to connect, but then you would have to run the tubes, wire in the pump, mount a holding tank, but then agian they are 14x better then an air/air

a front mount intercooler can go infront of the radiator. it will not effect the radiator.

this is what made me want to get the air/water ic

I've got the air-water IC on my 93 Legacy, some work but it was worth it. This would be a good time to upgrade the turbo as well, the Legacy turbo comes out at a different angle and would make you run custom turbo to IC piping. Here is what I did on the cheap, http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=1110

What turbo can I run?

I want something durable.

My goal is to get a good bit of power to the wheels but without having to run Race Fuel. Just 93 Octane. I was hoping I could get ~225 at the wheels at some point on 93 octane.

You can run any WRX upgrade pretty much. IHI VF22,23,30,34 The TD04 off the rex.ect.. Or if you order a water/air setup from N.Z. or Australia you could get a turbo too. You could get a VF12 or TD05 16G. There's a ton of options. I think what K is saying is that since you're going to have to do custom piping you may as well upgrade the turbo at the same time so you only have to do the piping once. IMHO though, if your goal is 225 whp you can probably get there (or at least real close) with the ej22t stock turbo, the VF10 or sometimes the VF11.
Does anyone know if the compressor outlet has the same or different angle on the VF10-11 and the VF12? I think they are the same, so wouldn't the stock piping for the Liberty RS air/water i/c work without problems? If not then if you got the VF12 it should though right? The VF12 is a little stronger turbo too because of the bigger compressor fan.

The VF-12 is bigger and the outlet is bigger and points straight across. 225hp AT THE WHEELS on the stock turbo? I don't know about that. I would want a bigger turbo myself.

Ok, maybe I'm wrong about the stock turbo. NICOIWRXU was putting down a lot more then that with the stock turbo though.....he also just blew up his engine though too and has a huge fmic. It worked for quite a while though. 225 whp is about what, 270 bhp? What do you think the stock turbo is capable of? I think you can get close to that, maybe not all the way there but close. K is probably right though, it would be way better to get a bigger turbo. Like maybe a VF30 or 34. The stock turbo is going to be past its efficiency rating at what, about 13 psi?. I don't know, I guess it's probably wishful thinking on my part, because I want about the same power and don't want to change my turbo yet. I was hoping to run about 15 psi on short runs until I can save enough money for a VF23 or 30/34. What do you think the bhp at 15 psi on the ej22t is going to be?

i think the vf 23 would be the best optoin. you can clock the turbo but its a waste of time. all that work when you could be doing an upgrade.

hey -k- if you install the air/water ic with a turbo with a non angled outlet will you have to mod the inlet pipe for the ic?

i am having one with an mrt water pump and a celica radator sent over so i can run an upgraded set up.

a local guy has and air to water ic if anyone wants to get one.
