Quick question...I'm looking at buying a set of LHD STi projector headlights, and then adding HID after the fact. The headlights do not have a wiring harness, will I need one? Since I'm buying HIDs, can't I just buy a HID setup that plugs into my factory harness and also into the headlights?

If I do need a harness, does anyone know a vender that actually has these in stock right now?

Thanks,
Scott:cool:

Short answer, no, unless you want to so some wire splicing and headlight hacking.

I'm no expert but I did have the JDM projectors and I needed a harness. Main reason for not doing what you suggest is that the housing requires a H1 type bulb for the main beam and your stock harness is a 9007. If you were thinking about putting that 9007 bulb into the EDM housing, you would have to do some serious chopping...that and when you get the bulb into the housing, the focal point would be off.
Besides all that, if you don't get the harness, you'll have to splice some wires and all that good junk. Unless you're good at it...

Spend the extra 40 bucks and do it right...not worth trying to skimp on that! ;) Thats my thought at least!

Wasn't a matter of the cash, I just wasn't sure if I would even use a harness. It would seem that the HID kit would plug into my factory harness and then into the housing, so what roll would the extra harness serve?

Doesn't really matter I guess, as I think I'm actually going to buy Morettes and then a HID setup from a BMW for my lowbeams:D If I do it this way, I can always buy new D2S bulbs, so the new ban on HIDs won't bother me as much:devil:

Well you don't need one BUT, if you use one then the look will be cleaner and going back to stock well be just plug & play.

Now for the HID kit you will need and H1 kit that will plug into your JDM lights. You will just have to cut out the cap that goes on the back so that the HID wires can go though. I wish I had a pic to show you better but its only in my head.

If you have not gotten the HID's yet call up http://www.fizzautosports.com/ and tell them what you are looking for and they will help you out nicely.

Hope this helps a little more.
