In light of the recent ban on HID kits, I was thinking about taking a set of morettes and replace the projector with a unit that accepts D2S bulbs. This way I wouldn't have to worry about getting replacement parts (bulbs). I was thinking about this kit HERE (http://www.hellausa.com/maineng/NewLook/ProdServ/perflighting/90mm_module.html) from Hella. Part #68139 is the D2S setup. There are also a ton of kits on eBay from various BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes that can be had fairly cheap.

Does anyone know the measurements of the Morette projector offhand? I just want to make sure this will be a direct replacement.

Scott:huh:

The D2S or D2R will fit in the morrettes with a little modding, as long as they are H7 replacements.
The problem with the morrettes and HID isn't the projector lens, it's the shield which gives the e-code _/ pattern and creates a "rainbow" effect. If you do a little searching on hidforum.com you can figure out how to construct a new shield which will eliminate the "rainbow" effect and make the beam more like the oem HID's on Audi's etc.
The worst job remains either way you go, you will still have to open the valeo plastic case to get to the projector assembly. It is glued and has plastic clips which break very easily. Heating them helps, but they are still trouble.
To disassemble the projector itself you will need "tamper proof torx" tools.
