Welp this is my first post and it most likely won't be the last........have had my car 3 weeks and 2 days.......got it with like 36 miles on it and now have close to 3,300.........anyway........I am looking for a momentary toggle switch..............want a rocker or a push botton that will fit in one of the blank factory switch spots...........any help will be appreciated thanks..........BK

I was/am also looking for such a switch. I was thinking maby of getting a factory fog lamp switch and re-stensiling it for my needs, however after being quoted $26 or something insane like that from the dealer i quickly thought better of it. I would prefer to keep the factory look, but i may just have to end up doing the radioshack thing :(. Tell me what ya find.

Its almost as bad as all caps. There's a guy at my work that types up his tickets using commas as spacers for his mumbling sentence fragments. It is quite annoying.

Welp sorry for the annoying text. I am hooking up a car alarm as a siren. When wired to a momentary toggle switch you can make the alarm whistle. As for the stock fog light switch, that is not a momentary toggle switch. I need a switch that turns off when i release the pressure on it. Once again thanks for any help.

In case you couldn't find a reasonably priced switch that matches the blank, you could always get a momentary toggle switch that is threaded on the outside and comes with a nut. Then, it's a matter of cutting a thin sheet of metal (say, aluminum), drilling a hole for the switch, and bending the edges to make it look somewhat round and clip onto the existing trim. You can paint the sheet metal to blend in if you want. Here's an example, but not with the type of switch that you need:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am a fan of the Radio Shack switch. As for the Sheet metal I am trying to do everything low profile on this car. Granted there will be a button or rocker switch there but it's not like a standard toggle that just "flaps in the wind" per say. But once again thanks and if anyone else has any suggestions they would be appriceated

I'm not into making things too flashy, and imho, the sheet metal seem to blend in ok with the fake brushed aluminum trim of the GD/GG interior. As I also stated, it can also be painted trim black or some dark color too. Either that or drill one of the blanks, which is a one-way ticket imho.

I believe the stock cruise control switch is a momentary pushbutton. So you could potentially get another one of those and change the label somehow.

I'm not 100% positive, but I do believe switches from other generations of Impreza, Legacy, Forester, Baja, etc. will also fit in, even though they will look different from the rest of your stock switches.

Welp thanks for all the suggestions. I stopped at Radio shack today and got the switch. Tonight I will do the install. As for the Cruise control but it is not a momentary toggle. If it was then that would mean you would have to hold that button in when you wanted the cruise control on. But that's just a side note. Once again thanks for all the help and I am sure I will be asking more questions down the road.

I'm pretty sure the cruise control is a momentary switch.

It sends a signal to the cruise control computer. The computer is responsible for turning cruise control on and off and it has an internal latch.

Take an ohmmeter to your switch and find out.

Edit: I wrote "toggle" but mean "momentary" originally.

That is true but at the same when I push the cruise control button the indication light on the switch stays on which means there is still power goin to the switch till you click the cruise control off. I guess the only real way to find out is to put the tester to it like you said.

The indicator light is on a separate circuit. It's actually driven by the computer as well.

I've taken apart cruise control switches from BC/BF Legacies, BD/BG Legacies, and GC/GF Imprezas and they all operated this way.

So here's the question then. If I go to subaru tomorrow and order a cruise control switch, I could use that as my momentary toggle switch. The second part is my brother owns an 04 STI and the DCCC switch appears to be a momentary toggle to switch from the computer to the driver control part. Would that be the better way to go? I'm not that familiar with DCCD... I thought it was more than just a switch, though. Doesn't it also contain a dial to let you choose the amount of lockup?

Dial yes. The two are sperate though. You have to push the button to activate or de-activate the system and then dial let's you choice where the power goes
