Is there a way to only have a shift light connected to the tach and go off at a certain rpm instead of having to buy a bunch of electronics?
and while im at it, can you change the rs instrument panel so that the rpm gage is in the middle and the speedometer is on the side like the sti's?

I would think the simple way is to add a tach with a shift light. Even if alternate gauge panels where available (speed and tach reversed) I would doubt they would have a shift light.

yeah that would be the simple way but i think having two tachs is a little repetitive, and just having the light doesnt take up as much room and can be put in a lot of places

You can buy a stand alone shift light. Summit racing should have a bunch of different ones.

I don't know if UTEC's solenoid switch is only MAP based - but users of XEDE can use the solenoid out as a shift light if it is not used for anything else. As a matter of fact you can use anything that has an analog signal out based on rpm.

Summit Racing (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=search.asp&type=bykeyword&searchtype=both&part=shift+light) has plenty of shift lights.

Look on the 2nd page under Proform to their adjustable shift light. No seperate pills to worry about, just adjust a rheostat in the back (I'm guessing) to adjust when the light comes on.

For $50 bucks, it can't be that bad. I'm debating mounting on on the steering column to use in my car.

I have a proform. Check with them to see if your car puts out enough signal to power it. I've installed a tach in a Neon racecar and the signal would not drive the proform. I've yet to hook it up anywhere successfully, but plan to build a simple amplifier and try again over the winter.

I have the Axas shift light that plugs into the 12v lighter socket. It works fine and has 4 sequential lights with upper and lower activation points. The light unit is pretty small and can be mounted in view, while the controller can be out of the way. I have it set so that it activates at 5000 and everything it lit up by 6200. It's lots of fun!
