Getting ready to get some new parts for my '93 Legacy Turbo, and a MBC and BOV are on the list. Which ones work best? I have heard the TurboXS and GFB are good options, but wanted some more input from "The Board"...Thanks for your help.:)

Turbo xs mbc's are very nice but a little spendy, Hallman mbc's are very nice and a little cheaper. BOV stay stock. Do not get a vent to atmosphere. Bad idea IMO.

Why is the BOV a bad idea?:( Does the stock one work well enough for higher boost levels?

The ej22t uses a MAF sensor and Diverter Valve (recirculation valve) so using a BOV (vent to atmosphere) can screw up your A/F
mixture. The ECU will be fueling for air that is not present because you vented it instead of recirc. it back before your turbo.
I have heard of a couple people using BOV's and liking it but i've heard of a lot more people having problems with them. I haven't tried running one myself though. As far as I know the stock DV can handle plenty of boost.

turbo x's dual stage is kick ass. hit a switch and you are ready for the track, hit it agian and its ready for street driving.

A bov will make you run hella rich every time you shift or let off the gas. i have heard of people running the stock legacy turbo bov up to 25 psi. and that is plenty of boost.

Thanks for the heads up guys, and the lesson on the DV too...;)

Looks like I'll be going with some sort (undecided) of boost control, and no BOV...:) Don't think I'll venture over the realm of 25psi, I want to keep my lasting a while before a rebuild.;)

if you are planning on running >20 psi .. which your not cuz you can't on 390cc injectors

forge makes a bov that will fit .. same bov as what came on the 93-96 wrx

I can't change the injectors or install an IC and still be legal in my class (PGT)..
:(

Now if I built it for OPEN, it'd be a given...;)

Hey outback I just noticed you're in Bend. I'm Oregon born and raised and lived in Bend in the winters a couple years out behind Pilot Butte. Pretty cool town, heard it's growing pretty fast lately.
Are you going to school there, ski bum or what?

Right on, another fellow Bendite on the move...:D

Yes, it's growing very fast, now over 55k people inside of the city limits, over 100k in Deschutes County...It was only 17k when I moved here 11 years ago.

I used too be a ski/board bum and fishaholic, back in the day, before I had kids...;) Full season pass every year, fishing/camping 4+ days a week, seems like eons ago... Now I am a Subaru specialist (for almost 10 years) and a fishing/wilderness guide, which keeps me outdoors in the summer.

How'd you wind up in Pa.?

Cool. I'm doing the family thing too. I have a 5 year old daughter and my son was born Oct. 6th! My wife is from PA and we moved out to help with her families Cable TV company. It was only supposed to be for a year but that was over 7 years ago
I'm an avid skier ( actually met my wife in Sun Valley, ID. after moving from Bend in 94) and i love the outdoors myself. My Father and I hope to guide Salmon/ Steelhead in Southern Or. and Northern Cal. someday on the Rogue, Umpqua, Smith and
Klamath. Maybe Guide for Elk and Mullies too. I really miss the mountains :( You're a lucky man to wake up and look at the Cascades every day! Cheers,
-Matt

Good story..;) My wife's from Idaho too.

Hope your plans to make it back this way pan out for you.:D Maybe there will still be some fish left in the river too.;)

Thanks for the advice on the MBC also.

My stock BOV leaked like crazy when I was running 12lbs. I put on a greddy type 's' and recirculated it. It dropped my 1/4 about .5 sec.

There are tons of Diverter Valves out there that would work great.

Look into the vortech race units, they have huge DV's that im sure you could put right in.
