I bought a Wagon enclosure in a prior group buy and it is fantastic. Everyone who listens can't believe the output that I get from one 10" woofer.

I give the wagon enclosure a big thumbs up.

I don't suppose you have a matched box for the right side of the wagon?

evolutionauto

no sorry, no 12" enclosures, and the 10" ones only come on one side, no dual enclosures.

What are the enclosures made out of?
How much do they weigh?
Are they air tight?
are there provisions for dual voice coil subs?

Your link doesn't work (evoauto) are there or will there be futher details available there?

Will most 10's fit?

Where are the suggested mounting points to hold them in place? Pics of this would be great.

The enclosure looks great, I would just like a little bit more information.

Thanks,

evolutionauto

the STi stuff is coming, still waiting for the car. it broke this past week, so maybe i will be able to get some time with it while he isnt driving it...

the enclosures are appx. .9cu ft each.

honestly, i have never tried one with a wagon mat inplace, maybe one of the dozens of wagon owners with my enclosure will chime in and comment on that.

the enclosures are made of 1/2" mdf, with a 3/4" mdf baffle, and the woofer countersunk 1/4". the enclosure weight about 16lbs, and they are very air tight :) i dont know what you mean about provisions for dual voice coil woofers, about 99.5% of the time, all that wiring is done within the enclosure anyways. if you would like a second terminal cup in the box, i will cut another one in for you. the only 10" woofer i know of that doesnt fit is the JL 10W7. i tried once to make an additional baffle to make the JL W7 fit, but it just didnt look right when done, so i scrapped that idea. the box mounts with the supplied screws. you basically put the box in place, and screw it straight down from the inside, to the floor. evo-auto.com has never been fully developed, so that is why it hasnt been working. that is being worked on also :)

Can you get to the spare tire without moving the box?

Kenji
11-04-2003, 11:20 AM
Is there a place to mount the amp?

evolutionauto
11-04-2003, 10:55 PM
yes, you can get to the spare tire without moving the box, on both the sedan and the wagon enclosures.

i would recommend mounting amps under either of the front seats. there is plenty of room under there for even large sized amps.

Do you guys have a smaller side enclosure for the wagon? Does it need to be that deep?

evolutionauto
11-08-2003, 08:15 PM
actually, the wagon enclosure is only like 8-9" deep, so not to bad. i made it that big to fit deeper woofers. you can fit up to a 7" deep woofer in the enclosures.

also, in case i sounded unclear above, regardless of how many enclosures i sell, the price stands, so it doesnt require any number of enclosures for that price. i can sell one, and that will be the price. i have quite a few enclosures on hand right now, so if you pay before the deadline, i will ship on payment. thanks

How easily would it be for me to customize the box and make it shallower? I don't think my sub will be 7" deep, and from the pics, the box sticks out a little far into the wagon space for my tastes. If I could get it even with the wheel well, that would be perfect...

evolutionauto
11-12-2003, 12:56 AM
i honestly dont think you'd be able to modify an enclosure. and really any 10" woofer worth its salt is going to be around 5" deep anyways, so you wouldnt be saving alot of room.

I got my wagon enclosure last week and put an eD e10o (http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep2/10o.htm) into it, powered by a JL 500/1. The e10o is a bit oversized, so I had to dremel the opening slightly; only took about 10 minutes.

All I can saw is  This replaces an old 12" Hsu Research sub left over from my other car that was in a 2+ ft^2 box. It sounds better AND takes up less space. I highly recomend the e10o for this enclosure.

Still on my list:

1) Make a custom grill (being oversized, a normal 10" grill will not fit)

2) Anchor the box. I have it in place with some industrial velcro currently, but it is not secure enough. I dont want to screw it down from inside the enclosure since the jack lives behind it. I am thinking of rigging up an L bracket that attaches to the cargo hook next to the jack compartment.

Just put it in the center of the tray that sits above the spare tire (mine fit perfectly), or even in the spare tire area. :)

I've been waiting for the "Sedan / STi" group buy to ask, but I'll go ahead and post my question here. Is it possible/feasible to port your box or is it not suited for this? I'm asking because I don't know if one 10 is going to be loud enough in my trunk with the 180 watts I have available for it. I know that ported boxes tend to be louder given the same sub/power level.

01-09-2004, 05:07 PM
Ported enclosures need to be made bigger though.

I have a question on this... Polk reccomends .66 cu ft for the box for a momo sub, but this one is .9cu ft will that compromise sound quality?

evolutionauto
01-11-2004, 10:38 PM
alright, i'm back from CES :)

i would love to do a ported enclosure, i just have to get time to get one figured out. there are ways to get the added efficency of a ported enclosure, without making the enclosure huge. but that will have to be for another day.

generally a manufacturer will recommend the smallest size of enclosure for their woofer, cause thats what most people want. however, i have never seen a woofer that didnt pick up some kind of performance gain from having a larger enclosure. you could also add some wood to the inside of the enclosure to take up space, but i would try the initial setup first.

i will start the GB monday or tuesday, so please take any additional comments there once it begins, thanks.

I just thought I'd let you guys see a ported enclosure for the wagon.... one JL 10 inside. Fires towards the side of the car.
Peace,
Jeremy

Tried cutting that part off. Still doesn't fit because of the height. I guess I'll have to shave off about .5-1 cm off the top.:P

I guess now we know that the JDM and USDM GC trunks are a little different?

i have the 2 sedan enclosures. they fit awesomely and hardly slide at all, even without bein mounted. however a couple strategically placed industrial strength velcro and you'll never see em move. they look awesome, sound great and fit perfectly. i highly suggest these for anyone who drives a sedan. i've had mine for several months and no complaints at all and quite a few compliments :) awesome work man..thanks for the boxes :)
