sidewayz 11-08-2003, 04:21 PM yeah dude...I just got back from SEMA.
satin paint was the hottest paint of the show...almost every major company had a car painted like that.
BTW:
those rotors in that article aren't titanium....they are stainless steel covered in ceramic.

McPhreak 11-09-2003, 09:49 PM wow...so how much does a paint job like that go for?
J Hacking 11-10-2003, 12:08 AM That paint job is no more expensive than a regular one, it just has flating agent in the clear rather than full clear coat one
WReX'n'Effect 11-10-2003, 02:51 AM Great paint job! don't like the scoop though, maybe if it were painted.
Bread 11-10-2003, 03:34 AM so theres little to no clear coat?....whats the finish like then?
gerbs 11-10-2003, 03:39 AM i spy an in memory of lovell/freeman sticker.

silverbullet99 11-10-2003, 11:09 AM if anybody can find out the cost of the paint alone post it up cuz damn that is just sexy. sexier than my girlfreind leann tweeden:D
GottaREX 11-10-2003, 11:11 AM WOW... That wing is kinda nice. And it looks like it's bolted to stock mounting holes. Do you guys think they sell those somewhere?
Sal-Paradise 11-10-2003, 03:49 PM That paint is awesome! Anyone know what kind of care would be involved with that? Wouldn't waxing it lose the effect? How about durability? Looks sooooo nice though!

Adiliyo 11-10-2003, 08:13 PM if the wrx/STi's came in that silver i would've gotten silver...drool
as to the wing...is it a prodrive wing or ...?
looks pretty nice, anyone know a rough price for it?
Ikonosin 11-10-2003, 08:42 PM Where's the intercooler on that sucker:confused:
Adiliyo 11-11-2003, 01:45 AM looks like a FMIC...but someone said that prodrive said it wasn't....
zombiedog 11-11-2003, 02:04 PM I paint, like the guy before said it is just flat clearcoat. To get it done right it costs 4 to 5k. Although I haven't done a car in flat I have done a few bikes.
For care all you do is wash it. Waxing just builds up and either gets hazy or shiny depending on the wax.
Cosworth 11-11-2003, 03:42 PM another Prodrive car in the satin finish from SEMA....

We were talking to a rep from prodrive. The intercooler will be water to air. The front portion of it will have the water on it cooling the top mount portion of it. Hence the scoop on it is reversed to take the heat out of the engine bay.
The front mount part of it will be thin so it will fit without messing with your stock bumper beam. Here is a photo

Won't be available til late next year... better start saving! :)

ANashTy 11-11-2003, 08:42 PM NEED 5K FOR PAINTJOB!!! looks awwwesome
Adiliyo 11-12-2003, 01:26 AM sounds neat...is there somewhere i can see how that works? i get the basic intercooler concept, but two linked together throws me off...that and water cooled ones i don't really understand yet...maybe someone can show me a site or explain it to me..:)
Subasaurus Rex 11-12-2003, 09:48 AM I'll check into the cost/details of satin clear. I use to paint cars, so I have some sources.....
4wheelflyer 11-12-2003, 05:44 PM yes thats one sexy beast, I wish my silver looked like that ,the wing is pretty slick too
