I was browsing around and saw Remote Map Selector which i think is pretty cool, you can just select ur ecu mode to race, or street mode inside ur car. but any disadvantage to this feature?
has anyone had any experience? does it hurt the for doing that tuning back and forth?

Thanks for any inputs

No, there are no disadvantages.

It allows you to change the UTEC map you are using without using a PC and without accessing the dial on the back of the UTEC.

It is very, very useful. For example, I was just cruisin' home on the freeway the other day when it was beautiful, nice and cold out. I decided to do a little spirited driving, taking advantage of the weather. I start to get up to speed when the car pulls timing in 3rd.. so I let off, put the car in neutral, switched over to my winter map, ran again and it was perfectly fine. It's very very useful.

I would imagine the only disadvantage is the fact that you can only switch maps when the engine is turning less than 1600rpm (?). However, you can cure that by doing what Big Turkey did (put it in neutral).

wouldn't call that a disadvantage as switching maps at higher RPM's could severly damage the engine.

So No there are no disadvantages to the switch.. It's great.

what happens if you try to switch when the rpms are high?
how does it stop you?

It doesnt stop YOU from doing anything. It just will not switch maps until the rpms are suitable for a map change.

yep.. if you click the switch at 6K it just ignores you until you are down at idle again then it will make the switch.

Just like if you switch to security mode while the car is running it wont do anything until you turn it off.
