Curious to know where you guys with aftermarket lights tapped in for power. My Hella 500s say to tap the switch to the headlight wiring ie: the parking lights or whatever. I would say parking so the ability to turn them on with only those illuminated. I want to be able to turn them off with the car so I would need to find switchable power. Should Ijust tap into the parking or is there another source? I don't really like hacking factory wiring.

on my new PIAA 520's i just piggybacked it onto the parking lamo bulb that goes to the headlight.....that way they are switch on by the car...and if the car is off i can still use the switch on the steering column.....

my hellas were wired directly to the battery....that was cool , but often times i would leave the lights on and kill the battery....

cross-reference the instructions for the "foglight with parking lights" mod. This will give you a nice underdash place to make a connection (it will show you where the factory foglight relay is located).
