Though its been answered, the easy way for me to remember is evens on the battery side counting away from the crank.

Why Don't Subaru Label The Plug wires or the Coil pack?

They did in the earlier cars. Unfortunatly doing something right doesnt mean they sell more cars so subaru models have gotten cheaper and cheaper the newer they are.
