Hi all.
If you didn't already know, Datsuns and Subarus have shared the R-160 differential for years, but with slight differences in how the axles and driveshafts mount. I just installed a Subie 2.5RS LSD in my Datsun 510, but I have one major problem. My stub axles bolt to the diff with one bolt. I've heard that the Subaru stub axles are held in with internal c-clips.

Does anybody have a picture of a 2000-2002 2.5RS stub axle end? I need to see what the splined end looks like, and how it's held in the diff.
Also- anybody have an extra pair of these? I need to figure out a way either to modify my Datsun stubs to work with the Subie diff, or build a pair of frankenstein stubs using both parts.

Thanks for any help. I need to get this beast back on the road without worrying if the axles are going to pop out.

the rear axles indeed are held in the rear diff by c-clips.

if the subie axles are the same length as the the datsun axles you should be able to use them.

or if the inboard joints are the same, you may be able to just use the stub from a subie axle on your datsun axle.

I dont have any pics but you can check www.car-part.com for some used axles, you will need a 00-01 rear axles.

hope that helps.

Thanks!

My Datsun axles are split in the middle in order to compress as the suspension compresses. I think even if the Subie ones fit, they'd bind. I'm thinking Subaru stubs tapped for my Datsun axles ought to work. Now to find a set (that website didn't have them)
